Nuan is on the first rung of the ladder to becoming a Minimoto Blacksmith. His family take great honour from Nuan’s position and he is fully committed to progressing through the ranks. The impure metals and slag are literally hurled at opponents or cleverly manipulated to create cover for the advancing Minimoto by launching clouds of smoke and sparks into the air.

All Jyoto Ashigaru are heavily armoured, each suit individually tailored to the particular soldier. They carry heavy metal Tetsubo which most men need two hands to use (Though some of the Minimoto effortlessly swing them with one hand or indeed, wield two of them!) with which they are trained relentlessly to build up their strength. Koshimori Yukio is one of the shrewdest, craftiest minds in the empire. Many question his recent arrival in the Jwar Isles, some suggest his appearance a bad omen; that the Empire’s interest in the isles is piqued whilst others claim it can only lead to prosperity. What is certain is that when Yukio speaks, he speaks with the authority of the emperor and whether he is questioning a samurai’s honour, chastising an underling or barking orders, he cannot be dis-obeyed. Yukio is a representative of the Imperial Court and can issue a decree in their name should those in his presence displease him. This single action leaves those who oppose him with their plans in tatters, their troops powerless, having no choice but to obey the word of the Emperor.

Like all novices of the Kage Kaze Zoku, Ujimushi is mercilessly and relentlessly drilled in the arts of the Kage. Although adept in all Zoku martial weapons he has chosen the short bow as his preferred weapon. On missions he strives to master the skills of the veteran ninja with whom he serves, mimicking and practising their movements to aid in his own training.

Another worm to emerge from the perilous, relentless training of the Kaze Kage Zoku, Wamu is a swift and nimble novice assassin. Like her fellow novice Wamu is able to employ the teachings of her mentors to great effect. A competent warrior and a promising student of the ways of the ninja.

Shinyuki is fearsome in word, act, visage and deed. A combat-centric member of the infamous Bleeding Moon, he excells in death, stealth and being prepared to deal with any situation. Being able to react fluidly counts massively when on missions, which makes this Shadows Crow the terrifying foe he is. His weapon of choice is the Kama: a short, sickle-like weapon that can slice and punch through the stoutest of armour. He loves it so much that he fights with one in each hand, and when in motion, they are a wall of slicing steel. He hides his identity behind a fearsome mask that stupefies his enemies for a second or two when they see it. They often realise - correctly - that this will be the last thing they see on this earth, and the hesitation is all he needs to strike first.

Shinyuki is a combat model that will excel at putting Damage and Bleed Markers on your enemy models. The Slice Ki Feat is expensive, but the damage can be worth it as it often turns a hit into a kill with a whopping Bleed 3 Marker. The ability to get Melee Boost 2 can help if locked in a protracted combat as you can get that higher Melee Pool every turn. The best use of this model may be to finish off a wounded enemy and use the Escape Ki Feat to reposition for Camouflage and Distance from the enemy. This moderate rice cost melee toolbox opens a lot of options for Bleeding Moon players.

Rin is swift as she is deadly. Her ability to combine speed whilst remaining as quiet as a mouse with ferocious fighting skills makes her a real asset to the clan. Her twin katana blaze with the fury of her House and leave a trail of dead in her wake. Her lust for battle is matched only by that of Katsumi, also of the Bleeding Moon.

Hirobo is an unquestioned leader amongst the Tengu. Striking an equal mixture of loyalty and fear into those he fights alongside. He is able to change the ebb and flow of a battle by channeling Fujin’s will, opponents rapidly find themselves outmaneuvered on all fronts by his actions. He dominates enemies, his attacks enfeebling their minds whilst he readies to take advantage and mark them for death.

Like the other males in the ever-present but mostly unseen Jaakuna, Katzu enjoys a life devoid of pleasure, rest or appreciation for his sacrifice. Myriad spiderlings cover Katzu’s body, which slowly drains his blood to feed. Should he be killed, they abandon him in droves to find fresher prey. For the Jaakuna, this is Katzu's greatest contribution.

Katzu's bow is surprisingly effective, but his real use comes from his Ki Feat. The ability to add more swarms, even as a melee trick, is powerful and can also help keep your Feat value high by adding an additional Kumo.

The island of Izu is one of the less habitable places in the whole of the Jwar Isles, bestowed upon the Ito as a slight by the Eagle clan to make it clear to all, including their subordinate clan, who rules. A broken landscape with little arable land for farming, brimming with danger and hazard from the hostile terrain or its inhabitants, beasts unique to the island fill its dense jungles. Beautiful as they are exotic, with colourings to make the royal gardens seem dull in comparison. Amongst the many reptiles lurking in the shadows of the canopy the Shimogama vipers are some of the largest and deadliest. Five foot of muscle, harnessed by great feathery wings enables the snake’s great power and movement, striking without warning and disappearing just as fast. These ancient predators of the jungle are drawn to the service of their mother in times of war.

Many have failed to notice the snake like qualities of Ayako so beguiled by her beauty, the Ito could probably have married into a greater clan before her transformation. A Shisai of the highest order, when she combines strength with her sisters she can become nigh-unstoppable.

Jinichi is a valuable member of The North Star who adds a slightly different approach to what they do. He has perfected fighting with a strange weapon that is a unique combination of blade and chain, and the whirring sound it makes as he spins it is often the last thing his enemies hear before they die. Because of its reach, it can quickly get between a samurai and his sword, thus breaching his defence leaving him open to attack. The blades are designed to cut and tear the flesh from his enemies bones, while the chain can immobilise the arms or legs of the unwary.

Jinichi is no stranger to the poison stores of his night-clad clan, and he incorporates this into his fighting style by anointing his blades with deadly toxins. Jinichi is a lethal killing machine with a penchant for tactics and terror.

Led by Morayne, the Blade of Twilight, the Ghosts of Ios are a ragtag band of refugee mage hunters who have devoted themselves to the protection of all living Iosans. Ranging between the refugee camps of Llael and Rhul and the former Skorne territories in the Bloodstone Marches, the Ghosts operate at the fringes of the Empire of Eternal Dusk.
