• Dystopian Wars is a tabletop wargame of naval battles that uses highly detailed miniatures to represent huge engines of destruction on, above, and below the high seas. Set in an alternate late-nineteenth century called the Dystopian Age, super-science fuelled nations clash over resources and power. Battleships and cruisers sail the surface of the sea while sky fortresses and dirigibles soar in the sky above. Submarines lurk beneath the waves alongside squid automata and colossal mechs. Fighters and bombers circle, waiting to dive upon their prey. All of this combines for an intense, tactical experience.

The Rules and Gubbins set is perfect for players old and new, containing almost everything you need to play, barring an opponent and a fleet of your very own. Action Dice will allow you to roll all of your fleet's attacks and defensive measures, while Critical Damage Dice will determine exactly where and how your enemies' models suffer from your overwhelming firepower. The Victory & Valour Deck is critical to play, from making vital Crew checks to scoring Victory Points and making bold plays via valour effects. Numerous tokens and markers will allow you to absorb the state of the game at a glance. Measuring tools provide ranges and allow your enormous warships to turn with the appropriate grace. The Rulebook, meanwhile, will be your best friend, easily readable and full of cross references to help you find exactly what you need, when you need it.

  • Dystopian Wars is a naval tabletop wargame that uses highly detailed miniatures to represent huge engines of destruction on, above, and below the high seas. Set in the Dystopian Age, an alternate late-nineteenth century of our own world, the Great Powers of the globe use super-science and alien engineering as they clash over resources and power. Battleships and cruisers sail the surface of the sea while sky fortresses and dirigibles soar in the sky above. Submarines lurk beneath the waves alongside squid automata and colossal mechanical knights. Fighters and bombers circle, waiting to dive upon their prey. All of this combines for an intense, tactical experience.

The Victory & Valour Deck is integral to the game of Dystopian Wars. Each card has multiple uses that add to your tactical options. Victory Conditions allow you to maximise your Victory Point tally, guiding your fleet towards scoring Objectives, be it through destroying specific enemy units, or claiming strategic locations in the Play Area. In short, they can be your key to victory. Conversely, if you want to keep your opponent on their toes, you might want to make use of Valour Effects. These are immediate buffs to your models, and bonuses which can be used to add Action Dice, re-roll undesirable results, reposition your units, and so much more. Additionally, the Value on these cards will be utilised for your units’ Crew Checks, determining Initiative, and for other decisive moments in your game.

Whichever way you choose to use your cards, they can only be used once, so choose wisely! Mastering the Victory & Valour deck is vital to mastering the game of Dystopian Wars.

  • 6th Rate Frigate: These warships were made for coastal protection, commerce raiding, and often pirate hunting. The 6th rate is a robust vessel that is designed to be fast, shallow draft, and heavily armed. Pirates were very rarely able to stand up to the might of a 6th Rate ship. Famously, Edward “Blackbeard” Teach was able to capture one and used it as part of his fleet. Our 6th rate was designed to recreate what Blackbeard’s Queen Anne’s Revenge might have looked like during the early 18th century.

  • Bark: The common bark is the coastal merchant and fishing workhorse of the Caribbean. Ranging from one to three masts, it is typically square-rigged and designed for cargo, not speed. It is a sturdy, unromantic vessel, yet due to its availability is often used by buccaneers. Spaniards, if they have nothing better, often fit them out as armadillas, or small fighting vessels, against buccaneers. One of the most famous buccaneer versus Spanish battles pits buccaneers in canoes and pirogues against three Spanish armadilla barks.

  • Some of the oldest human vessels still flying are the ultimate survivors, designed to guard early colonial expansion. The largest warships built before the first modern battleship, EAA Barbarossa - are classed as old battleships. They lack the speed, point defences, scanners, and power generation of newer vessels, but are still tough and formidably armed. Many survived the Scourge invasion, being reduced to frontier picket duty above distant outposts.

This set contains a Resistance Battleship, which can be built in a variety of configurations to suit your needs. Each box can be used to assemble two Old Battleships or one mighty Grand Battleship.

    Musashi Class Old Battleship

Once among the mightiest ships ever built by mankind, the Musashi is now a relic, even among Resistance fleets. Introduced in the mid-24th century, around the time of first contact with the Shaltari, the youngest of these veterans is over 300 years old. However, they were overbuilt for the rigours of exploration and have proven supremely reliable. Its broadsides of chemically fired N-12 cannons are undemanding workhorses with a low power draw, so most Musashi’s spinal turrets have been refitted with 9K mass drivers over the centuries.

    Recorded ships of the class:

Musashi, Endurance II (Independents), Loki, Proud Empress (Kalium)

    Lexington Class Old Battleship

Like other Old Battleships, the Lexington could rightly belong in a museum, although it’s still a formidable warship today. Many survived the Scourge invasion since they were mostly relegated to frontier picket duty, being outmoded even then. In the hard centuries that followed, the Lexington has proven its worth countless times, offering a reliable loadout of NC-16 missiles, a single ventral torpedo, and a fair-sized strike craft hangar. The negligible power drain of all of these gives the class excellent toughness, endurance, and utility for its age.

    Recorded ships of the class:

Yorktown, Missouri (Independents), Black Prince, Scharnhorst (Kalium)

    Iowa Class Old Battleship

Much rarer than its sister classes, the Iowa was the earliest known testbed of vent cannon technology. It mounts a pair of turreted heavy vent canons by dispensing with any broadside armament, freeing up space for a much enlarged, antique power core. Ventral NC-16 missiles complete the Iowa’s armament, given their negligible power drain. Like all Old Battleships, the Iowa has poor scanners and point defences by modern standards, necessitating careful use.

    Recorded ships of the class:

Ardent, Queen Bess (Independents), Iowa, Great Founder (Kalium)

    Nelson Class Grand Battleship

Mankind built hundreds of what today are termed Old Battleships to guard its expansion into the cosmos. However, once relations with the Shaltari soured, humanity found itself woefully outgunned. Rather than go through a costly, counter-productive scrapping process, many old battleship hulls were hastily twinned around a newer, much improved central power core. This allowed these new Grand Battleships, the first of their kind, to mount improved scanners, armaments, and point defences while offering substantial survivability. The Nelson is the most common survivor among these trailblazers, being built around a pair of Musashis.

    Recorded ships of the class:

Victory II, Trafalgar (Independents), Might of Kalium, Steel Fist (Kalium)

    Yi Sun-Sin Class Grand Battleship

Yi Sun-Sin is a UCMF class designation for a Nelson class Grand Battleship that has since had its broadsides refitted with vent canons. Such a class did not exist in the days before the Scourge invasion—it’s entirely the product of kill-hungry Resistance admirals who don’t mind the odd fatality due to chronic overheats from weapons discharge. Disturbingly, Kalium seems to have similarly converted several of the Nelsons it inherited when it seceded from the nascent UCM. The Kabal’s readiness to trade losses for victory perfectly matches the unstable savagery of this colossus.

    Recorded ships of the class:

My Masterpiece, Invention Number Four (Independents), Killforge, Our Grace (Kalium)

    Barbarossa Class Grand Battleship

A specialist variant of the Nelson, the Barbarossa replaces the power-hungry, early mass driver turrets with NC-16 missiles. In addition to offering increased lethality at close range, this frees up power for an enormous scanner array. Unlike most vessels with a detector role, the Barbarossa typically fights at the forefront of any engagement, caring little for the increased visibility that comes with running active scanners due to its already vast signature. To fully utilise the remaining power, the class’s lethality was further bolstered by a pair of chin-mounted vent canons.

    Recorded ships of the class:

High Eagle, Eye of God (Independents), Our Gaze, Illuminator (Kalium)

    Farragut Class Grand Battleship

Developed alongside the Barbarossa, the Farragut offers a more straightforward weapons loadout with surplus power capacity. This surplus and the relative simplicity of its armaments gave the Farragut legendary endurance and has made it a favourite of Resistance fleets. Offering the same quad-turret NC-16 battery and NC-12 broadsides as the Barbarossa, the Farragut also mounts six enormous torpedoes in three tubes, allowing for two devastating spreads. Few ships can survive a single salvo from this ancient leviathan.

    Recorded ships of the class:

Endeavour, Tribe Bane (Independents), Hammer of Reason, Subjugator (Kalium)

    Drake Class Grand Battleship

The Drake class was the first human vessel to mount an apocalypse-grade, non-nuclear weapon: the Spinal Mass Annihilator. It is an enormous kinetic energy weapon capable of driving a house-sized lump of tungsten carbide-coated, ultra-dense metal clean through a battleship, lengthwise. Such a weapon required enlarged power cores aboard the twinned Old Battleships and the new central core to feed it, necessitating the loss of its broadsides. Secondary armaments include NC-16 missile turrets and a pair of heavy vent canons to burst surplus energy onto any survivors.

    Recorded ships of the class:

Bonaventure, Revenge (Independents), Soul Reaver, Executioner (Kalium)

    Nimitz Class Grand Battleship

The Nimitz was the last class to be built via the expedient of twinning Old Battleship hulls, alongside its sister class, the Yamamoto. This method of shipbuilding, although apparently crude, offered more flexibility in its modularity vs the newer, purpose-built Grand Battleships. This made a risky experiment cost-viable: mounting the largest vent canon ever built. The Spinal Vent Lance demands a massive hull and all the power it can guzzle. Therefore, the Nimitz’s secondary armaments include NC-16 missiles and hangar bays. The Nimitz is a frightening combatant even today, although its captain always runs the risk of broiling the engineering crews tasked with maintaining the weapon.

    Recorded ships of the class:

Sunbeam, Ragefire (Independents), Volcanic, Your Fate (Kalium)

    Yamamoto Class Grand Battleship

The Yamamoto class Grand Battleship is a consummate flagship killer. Like its sister class, the Nimitz, it mounts a Spinal Vent Lance. It forgoes the flight decks in favour of enlarged power cores to run its mass driver turrets and mounts a pair of torpedo tubes with capacity for two spreads. One focused volley can cripple a battleship. Due to its flexible, modular construction, like all twin-hulled Grand Battleships, the Yamamoto can be refitted with additional drives to better propel it towards its victim.

    Recorded ships of the class:

Sol Requiem, Sadness (Independents), Spear of Onyx, Decapitator (Kalium)

  • The Alliance may be the youngest of the Great Powers but the uniting of the Rebublique of France, the League of Italian States, the Sovereignty of Spain and the Kingdom of Portugal cannot be ignored. With the addition of the Socialist Unity of South America (SUSA), the time has come for President Bonaparte to take his place on the world stage.

SUSA lacks the infrastructure to create new capital ships, however, they have enough Alliance support and local ingenuity and skill to heavily retrofit obsolete Pensacola-class battlecruisers. While pairs are acceptable to lead SUSA battlefleets, the Salvador-class's lack of advanced command and control facilities relegates them to supporting roles in combined fleet actions.

The Francisco-class was the brainchild of Trajano Augusto de Carvalho. After he obtained one of the Alliance's Solex Generators, he spent many months incorporating the massive device into a Pensacola-class battlecruiser hull. With this extraordinary marvel at its heart, the newly dubbed Francisco-class sports a pair of deadly heat lances and lancettes - a lethal surprise for the Alliance's enemies.

  • Bioficer battleships are a whispered nightmare among UCM captains, and rare survivor testaments are cause for extreme concern. These leviathans leave only carnage in their wake and are among the most potent known ships of battleship tonnage, including the latest super variants. Current theory suggests that the enemy’s most fiendish intellects use these mighty chariots as command vessels, given the gleeful viciousness of their actions so far.

This kit contains multiple variants straight out of the box.

One of the first nightmarish Bioficer battleships encountered, the Binary is built around a colossal, spinal-mounted Grand Bisector. This weapon is already infamous for neatly slicing cruisers in half with a single, silent discharge. Like most Bioficer battleships, it can be upgraded with Genitor Torpedoes and can carry a single Supercell into battle.

The Brutal class battleship is built around the terrifying Giga-Winnower, a weapon of awesome, indiscriminate lethality. When unleashed at full force, it projects coruscating tsunamis of molecular deconstructive power, reducing multiple targets to random chunks. Like all Winnowers, its weakness is its short range, making extreme aggression an enjoyed necessity for the intelligences that direct this massive ship.

The Bastion class battleship is built around the massive Gravitic Hyperlance. This weapon projects a thin tunnel of massively undulating gravity, pulling and shaking a cylinder of hull to pieces while arresting the target for further abuse, should it survive at all. A Thermitor battery augments this ship’s already awesome destructive power.

The Blackbird is one of the new enemy’s most awesome, maxed-out vessels. The extreme and frankly insulting effects of the Grand Bisector are already, regrettably, well known, but once augmented with multiple other weapons this vessel becomes a top-tier threat. Its Scythes, Thermator, and boarding pods are bad enough, it can be further upgraded with Genitor Torpedoes.

The Bishop class super battleship, much like the Blackbird is an up-gunned version of the Binary, the Bishop super battleship shares the primary armaments of the Brutal class. It sacrifices some thrust to add a Thermitor and boarding pods while retaining the option to add Genitor Torpedoes and a Supercell. Fully equipped and upgraded, this is a terrifying opponent at close quarters.

Consistent with the enemy’s other super battleships, the Binder is effectively an up-gunned, slower derivative of the Bastion class. Its devastating, mixed armament is a primary threat to any vessel. Like other Bioficer super battleships, it features a greater offensive crew compliment to fill its boarding pods, making boarding actions against this leviathan a foolhardy endeavour.

    This set includes:

    • 1 Battleship Miniature
    • 1 Supercell Miniature
    • 2 Dropfleet Bases

Miniatures supplied unpainted and unassembled. This kit will require cleaning and assembly. Plastic Miniatures will need to be assembled using plastic glue. Clear acrylic bases will require super glue and may have a protective blue film on one side that will need removing.

  • The Post Human Republic’s Grand Fleet flies the toughest and most advanced battleships yet built by mankind, and they are always innovating. The latest examples are sleeker, more modular designs. Their miniaturised, hyper-efficient core systems have enlarged internal spaces enough to allow for supercarrier variants. Also, an expanded power matrix allows them to accommodate Energy Glaive broadsides previously only seen aboard dreadnoughts. Other cutting-edge technologies, such as massive nanomachine hives, are also appearing.

This kit contains multiple variants straight out of the box.

Following the same design ethos as their dreadnoughts, all of the Sarpedon battleship’s main weapons are energy-based. Firstly, a linked pair of Meganova lasers provide superlative ship-slicing capability - even another battleship may be crippled by a single, sustained burn. Secondly, two hull-mounted multi-lance lasers can bracket and pulverise smaller ships with frightening ease.

The Kairos class has only just been observed in combat, and it’s superstructure suggests it is part of the Grand Fleet’s new family of battleships. The Kairos forgoes the Meganova lasers in favour of additional drives for a massive increase in combat speed. It uses battleship-grade munitions which can inflict crippling damage to any target. Once in the fray, the class’ hull-mounted multi-lance lasers can mop up any escort vessels fleeing the flaming wreck of the Kairos’ latest victim.

The Rhadamanthus has been operating since just prior to the opening salvos of the Battle For Earth. Unlike the other vessels, the Rhadamanthus uses the PHR’s older power core structure, most likely because it was rushed into service. Augmenting the fearsome neutron missiles with even more close action weaponry, this is the PHR’s most aggressive battleship, since these weapon’s low power consumption allow it to achieve the same blistering thrust as the Kairos.

The Heracles Class battleship is a truly awesome vessel and one of the most resilient battleships yet encountered in the Reconquest. Its vast and stocky hull is built around an enormous broadside array of heavy calibre mass drivers, its beam is wide enough to conceal these massive weapons within. The ship’s characteristic and ominous silhouette is increased by a complex series of manoeuvre fins, lending this leviathan a surprisingly graceful appearance for such a brutal tool of destruction. In addition to its broadsides, the Heracles also features the dreaded Dark Matter Cannon, an enormous prow mounted weapon as monumentally destructive as it is advanced. In addition to the extensive damage it can inflict, a single shot is dangerous enough to cause crippling effects to the largest of vessels, making it an awesome foil to enemy battleships.

The Minos Class battleship is just as formidably vast and deadly as its related class, the Heracles but features an entirely different prow armament. Primarily and most obviously, it carries a pair of Nightfish torpedoes, massive ordnance the size of small ships designed to resist all point defence with sheer armour thickness and mass. Once its torpedoes are launched, the Minos usually adopts an ultra-aggressive approach in order to bring its secondary prow weapons into play. These are the ultra-advanced neutron missiles, perhaps the most dangerous close action weapons yet encountered by the UCM. These are designed to inflict appalling carnage once an enemy ship is penetrated, damaging core systems and causing crippling effects that would normally only be encountered with massive hull damage.

  • Shaltari battleships are among the most feared vessels in known space. They are spectacularly advanced and unfathomably ancient—the oldest has
apparently plied the stars for over ten millennia. Worryingly, this does not seem to dim the alien’s ability to innovate. New variants are appearing with
increasing frequency, and the Shaltari only commit such awesome talismans of their power when they are in dire purpose. Also, some appear to be freshly
constructed or refitted with new and eldritch weaponry, both prow armaments and broadsides.

This kit contains multiple variants straight out of the box.

The Diamond Class battleship is a truly frightening spectacle. Stretching 1546 meters in length, this mighty vessel is one of the largest known battleships and an imposing figurehead for any fleet. Despite their rarity, more UCMF officers ranking Admiral or above have met their deaths at the hands of one of these leviathans than any other type of ship in the Reconquest. In addition to a pair of disintegrator banks, the Diamond’s primary armament is a triad of super particle lances. These vast weapons extend through half the ship’s entire length and are fixed in the forward arc, such is their unknowable mass. These monstrosities have the ability to scythe through any armour like butter, their beams frequently passing right through a capital ship. While their damage dealing ability is potent, their real strength lies in reliability – the certainty that the enemy will feel the Diamond’s wrath, no matter how well protected it is.

The Platinum Class shares the same basic hull design as the Diamond class, but its internal space and vast upper levels are dominated by an enormous flight deck, making this vessel a supercarrier by UCM reckoning. The Platinum class can unleash swarms of fighters and bombers in an unstoppable tide of destruction, in volumes and quality that few other ships can match. In addition (and like its cousin the Diamond) it also serves the secondary function of mothership, carrying a small number of ground troops to supplement surface landings. Their continued survival over the millennia is due in part to their scale, but mostly to the extended combat range granted by its strike craft, ensuring that finally ending one of these behemoths is a challenging task in the extreme.

The Gold class Supercarrier is relatively new and rarely seen. Mounted upfront is the powerful, close-action microwave arrays of its sister classes. Armed with the Ion Cannonade, the Gold is a terror to almost any vessel, and that’s before its swarms of formidable Shaltari bombers strike.

Although many Shaltari ships can be considered unusual, the Bronze class battleship is especially so. At the prow, it mounts the fearsome Ion Cannonade. On the ship’s back, it mounts a Gravitic Beamer. While damaging enough on a basic level, this weapon’s real threat comes from its effectiveness against ships in atmosphere and its tendency to literally shove ships forward, often into unfortunate places. Lastly, the ship mounts twin broadside crescents of microwave emitters for close-in killing power.

Closely related to the Bronze, the Silver class battleship also features a broadside microwave array and a prow-mounted Gravitic Beamer, but replaces the Ion Cannonade with the spectacular Obliterator Cannon. These generate a cracking flow of unstable, rare particles, then channels them through a small emitter nozzle at the unfortunate target. For a Shaltari weapon, It is uncharacteristically random in its destructive power.
