A malevolent specter born of Cryxian magic, the Hellslinger Phantom bears a striking resemblance to the Cygnaran warcaster Allister Caine, and rumors suggest it was made from a sliver of his very soul. Others argue it is the product of dark magic, whispering that Caine unleashed an unholy shadow of himself upon those who crossed him some time in the past.

The Hellslinger Phantom mimics Caine’s style on the battlefield, ruthlessly cutting down targets with shots from magelock pistols akin to the ones employed by gun mages. It is a remorseless assassin with no mercy or forgiveness, that leaves a trail of blood and carnage wherever it appears. It has long been conjectured by the Sorcerer Kings that the Elemental Domains, while anchored around the Prime, exist at varying spiritual ‘depths’. This could go a long way to explaining the existence of the Marid Apsara, powerful Water Asura who despite their title, bear humanity no ill will. In fact many a tale of stranded sailors and wounded rescued from the deep by dolphins is the work of these beautiful spirits. Enigmatic and reclusive, they are, however, not immune to the powers and efforts of the Water Sorcerers in enlisting their aid. When they arrive onto the battlefield they seldom do so alone, suddenly appearing with their entire court to deal a decisive blow, enhanced by their spellcasting ability.

A master of adaptability, the Shaytan excels at breaking enemy formations - unleashing a storm of additional Impact Attacks against lightly armored foes, or relying on a flurry of extra Attacks to tear through heavily armored targets.

Thanks to the Fiend Hunter special rule, the unit excels at bringing down some of the toughest targets on the battlefield, making it a premier choice for dealing with enemy monster armies. Their Titanic Defiance rule grants Fearless when fighting Monsters, significantly improving their staying power in these critical engagements. An important interaction to remember is that Fiend Hunter also applies to the regiment’s Impact attacks, making their charges particularly devastating against Brutes and Monsters. In his role as spymaster, Ashmael has been a sinister presence in the shadows for centuries.
