THE DIAMOND CLASS BATTLESHIP

The Diamond Class battleship is a truly frightening spectacle. Stretching 1546 meters in length, this mighty vessel is one of the largest known battleships and an imposing figurehead for any fleet. Despite their rarity, more UCMF officers ranking Admiral or above have met their deaths at the hands of one of these leviathans than any other type of ship in the Reconquest. In addition to a pair of disintegrator banks, the Diamond’s primary armament is a triad of super particle lances. These vast weapons extend through half the ship’s entire length and are fixed in the forward arc, such is their unknowable mass. These monstrosities have the ability to scythe through any armour like butter, their beams frequently passing right through a capital ship. While their damage dealing ability is potent, their real strength lies in reliability – the certainty that the enemy will feel the Diamond’s wrath, no matter how well protected it is.

THE PLATINUM CLASS SUPERCARRIER

The Platinum Class shares the same basic hull design as the Diamond class, but its internal space and vast upper levels are dominated by an enormous flight deck, making this vessel a supercarrier by UCM reckoning. The Platinum class can unleash swarms of fighters and bombers in an unstoppable tide of destruction, in volumes and quality that few other ships can match. In addition (and like its cousin the Diamond) it also serves the secondary function of mothership, carrying a small number of ground troops to supplement surface landings. Their continued survival over the millennia is due in part to their scale, but mostly to the extended combat range granted by its strike craft, ensuring that finally ending one of these behemoths is a challenging task in the extreme.

During recent engagements, UCM observers have reported the presence of a new Scourge heavy tank chassis with two distinct variants. Thankfully, these tanks forgo the familiar Slayer-type hull’s transport capacity, but this allows the mounting of larger weapons. Whether these are newly developed is unconfirmed, although AHQ has cited this as an example of the enemy’s capacity for innovation and rapid deployment of new assets while under the strain of invasion—a troubling prospect.

The Executioner mounts a slightly smaller version of the loathsome Bio-Mortar, a weapon previously only encountered aboard the massive Eradicator Chamelopod. This allows the Executioner to liquify the internal organs and flesh of emplaced enemy infantry from a distant, concealed position. Although it’s only been reported in combat for a short time, the Executioner is already a dreaded foe and has led to mass-desertions. Priority should be given to destroying Executioners before freedom of troop placement is entirely lost.

The Decapitator is especially unusual. Initially, observers thought this tank to be unarmed, if amazingly fast compared to other large skimmers. However, once the Decapitators closed to point-blank-range of their target, their central engine mount rolled 180 degrees to face forward. Although all speed was lost, that engine’s thrust could then be channelled into a laser-thin beam capable of slicing through virtually anything. Other heavy units, even the largest behemoths, are highly vulnerable to this new threat.

The HEC offer security and defence solutions to those who cannot apply direct political or military action in safeguarding their investments. The HEC have had major investment from the Union of Federated States and often that Great Power has used the Company when the deployment or involvement of a Union battlefleet may be politically unwise. Though some might call the involvement of the HEC an unwelcome influence by the Union in global affairs, in truth, many commanders have found that their need for support in a theatre of engagement can only be solved by hiring the Honorable Eclipse Company.

Commonwealth propaganda states that the Barents Sea is perfectly safe, thanks to its proximity to the sheltered docks of the White Sea from which defensive patrols regularly launch. In truth, however, it is far from tranquil. Raiders from the Scandinavian portion of the Imperium, not to mention the Scions of Jutland, frequently ambush the numerous fishing vessels and exploratory platforms. Loki Shadow Raiders make excellent use of their Ivaldi Shroud Generators to make surprise attacks and then fade away once they have crippled their target. Heimdall Recon Raiders use advanced detection systems to locate enemy patrols with the goal of avoiding contact until their battlefleet has the upper hand while Fenrir Hunter Submarines and Valkyrie Hunt Rotors allow multi-level attacks to be made. While not fast, the Atlas can take twice as much punishment as a heavy walker, making it best employed in take and hold style operations, or as close protection for its cargo while they conduct urban operations. Indeed one Atlas provides superior firepower and survivability compared to the pair of Junos normally employed in such roles, albeit at a higher cost.

The Atlas Bulk Personnel Walker uses the new, quadrupedal Type-11 chassis. The Type-11 is medium-heavy, highly resilient and deliverable by medium dropships. This makes it useful in a variety of roles which require more space than standard PHR walkers. The Atlas is best thought of as a walking castle. Its cavernous hold can accommodate 20 infantry in extreme safety while offering respectable firepower. Its pair of light railguns can see off most armoured threats while its twin miniguns can sweep deployment zones of enemy infantry.

Also utilising the new medium-heavy Type-11 chassis, the Lokheira forgoes the Atlas’ transport capacity for increased firepower. It retains the former’s light railguns and miniguns for excellent anti-armour and anti-infantry capability, but also mounts a twin rail-repeater. Single rail-repeaters are carried by the dreaded Phobos walker – one of the best standard anti-air units known to the UCM. A pair of these added to its other weapons makes the Lokheira weapon-rich choice of cargo for PHR generals who want the most punch from a single dropship’s transport capacity. While less flexible than smaller vehicles, a Lokheira offers superior killing power which can be maintained in full while soaking up damage.
