House Martell’s Sand Skirmishers turn their doctrine of high mobility into a deadly dance of blade and bow. Their light armor allows them superior speed, rivaling that of the fastest enemy units, and their training allows for deadly hit-and-fade attacks, all under a rain of incoming arrows. If locked down in a protracted melee, Skirmishers can hold their own as well as any light unit, but a wise commander will free them as soon as possible, allowing their dance to begin anew. They work particularly well savaging enemy lines already engaged with Martell Spearmen.

Sunspear Dervishes raise House Martell’s doctrine of high mobility to a fine art. Their training allows them to rapidly engage, strike hard, and just as rapidly disengage to either prep for another run or choose a more opportune target. Enemies so besieged are often so rattled by the spinning, whirling dance of blades that their own response is badly hampered. While Dervishes can hold in a melee for a time, they’re best kept on-the-move or working together with other Martell units to wear down a particularly determined foe.

In far-off Essos, Queen Daenerys Targaryen rules over a court rife with intrigue. Whether fate or chance or simple accident provide the blooded their gifts, few can argue that the Blooded are more than human. Their physical appearance can vary significantly, although most tend towards the massive proportions of their divine forefathers. Many see physical gifts and martial prowess and consider the Blooded lucky, unable to understand the combat that rages within each of these individuals. The wild blood of their divine ancestors cannot be easily denied, and they are prone to fits of manic energy and rage almost as often as periods of doom and despair. The ancient Ahmunite empire consumed itself from within as necromancy ran rampant and settlements became necropolis-cities, where soon the dead outnumbered the living. As retribution, the God-Kings or Ophidia summoned the most powerful and spiteful of the demonic djinn. Together, they unleashed a monstrous and lethal sandstorm that engulfed the Ahmunite armies, flensing skin and flesh from bone and driving them back to the wastes.

Over the millennia, elven ships have changed very little in their design and construction – a testament to the incredible seafaring knowledge possessed by the forebears of the Sea Kindreds. In the groves behind Therennia Adar, warship parts are painstakingly crafted beneath impossibly high forest canopies. Like organic beings in their own right, each elf ship is individually crafted, the artisans of Therennia Adar eschewing uniformity in favour of aesthetic beauty. And yet similarities exist in their tried-and-tested designs. The largest warships share distinguishing features such as hull shape and weapon complement, and all are topped with elegant parapets connected with arched bridges and even living glades of evergreens.
