Since the advent of the internal combustion engine, militaries have used car-sized, fast vehicles to nimbly convey surgical strike forces, scout units, command staff, and special ops troops to flashpoints. These often fulfilled many of the roles of the cavalry of old, offering more speed, resilience, and punch than basic infantry.

One of the UCMA’s most common and cheapest armoured vehicles is the Badger. Much like the ancient and famous Humvee, this can carry around five soldiers or specialists in comparative safety while offering supplementary anti-infantry firepower in the form of a twin gatling gun. A rarer variant, the Ferret, replaces this with a target designator unit, essentially turning this small vehicle into a forward observer as well as a light transport.

Already a favourite among beleaguered UCM ground troops, the Dominion is affectionately known as The Delete Key, God’s Nailgun, and Splatter, amongst other things. Certainly, the gargantuan Ferrum Aerospace factory can’t build these fast enough.

The Dominion Heavy Bomber is the Colonial Fleet Air Arm’s latest, devastating aircraft. Developed in response to the rising deployment of enemy behemoths, this dread angel bristles with weaponry.

Primarily, it’s cavernous bomb bays hold two Titanfall gravity munitions. These are dropped at low altitude, then just before impact the bomb’s tail explodes, driving its tungsten-tipped warhead deep inside a big target’s guts before a larger charge detonates, ripping the victim apart from within.

Additionally, four heavy calibre autocannons on its sleek nose can chew through armoured columns with ease. Next, a Saturation Missile Array can shred lighter targets spread over a wide area with airburst munitions, so cover offers no protection.

Lastly, and in a throwback to bombers of an earlier age, a tailgun guards against roving fighters and offers a sting in the tail to bring down aircraft in the wake of the Dominion’s passing.

Colonial tank design doctrine calls for ultra-low-profile hulls and compact weaponry. Bulkier weapons require an alternative mount, and one such option is the ubiquitous Grizzly. A modified version of the standard Bear APC, this chassis forgoes the transport capacity for a large weapon compartment.

Typically, the Grizzly is equipped with the UM-92 heavy mortar. This flexible armament sports a drum-based auto loader, much like a giant 20th century revolver. This grants a respectable rate of fire for a siege weapon as well as a minimal crew requirement. The Grizzly’s comparatively weak armour is rendered acceptable by UM-92’s ability to lob lethal shells from behind cover.

An exciting development has been the UCM’s first fieldable, projectile plasma weapon. This has been possible through tireless years of work and an abundance of captured Scourge technology. Indeed, this new UMX-9 Plasma Mortar shares several aspects with enemy versions. Like other plasma weapons, the UMX-9 delivers furnace-like energy to its target at very finite range, since the volatile plasma is held in place around the projectile by its fast-depleting power core. Since the UCM’s first plasma weapon is bulky and low velocity, its designers utilised the Grizzly chassis.

Although the Heavy was actually the first to hit the frontline, AHQ intends the Light form to overtake the Heavy in terms of numbers, given its lower cost and greater practicality. .

The Brazil and India are the UCM's Light Battle Mechs. These massive quadrupeds sit low to the ground, granting a modicum of cover for their large frame as well as ensuring that even if all legs are destroyed, they are merely immobilised.

Optimised for anti-behemoth roles, the Brazil carries a pair of UMH-2 Mass Drivers. While smaller than the main weapons on the America, they are much more practical and still able to take on the toughest of armour. On two of its legs are UM-88B chainguns for anti-air defence. The India trades out the large Mass Drivers for a set of 4 UMH-19 Flak Cannons. These weapons can make incredibly short work of enemy aircraft and are still large enough to threaten ground based armour.

The Vulture has proven a reliable platform for the UCM, as more and more roll off the assembly lines, new variants are being created to fill potential niche's in combat doctrine. A pair of new aerial IFV's are currently being tested in both scout, and combat varieties.

Vultures Gunships come armed with two Twin Cannons, identical to the variants mounted on the Katana light tank, this gives the gunship respectable anti-tank firepower. The optional AA Battery gives the Vulture further versatility, allowing it to take on other aircraft. Alternatively, this kit can be assembled to make the Buzzard Aerial Target Craft, it loses out on one twin cannon, however is now a scouting vehicle. This gives it great versatility, allowing it to spot for units firing indirectly, as well as extend your commander's sphere of influence.

Both of these variants are set on the Vulture ship chassis, giving it good durability and high speed. It is also able to transport two troop units, allowing for high response board control.

One moment the entire building was about to keel over with us in it. Then all of a sudden we were told to get away from the windows. I thought for sure it was another blast of plasma from one of those Scourge tanks. Turns out it was some foamy concrete stuff the eggheads had whipped up to shore up structures. Sure glad it worked, but I'm less impressed that the Palazzo looks like a lumpy potato now.

The Ferrum Falcon is light ground attack craft, designed for close air support missions. Built around the Ferrum Raven dropship chassis, the Ferrum Falcon is able to loiter over the combat zone, presenting a constant threat to enemy ground units. It shares considerable commonality with the Ferrum Raven, reducing construction costs and simplifying maintenance.

The Ferrum Falcon is just as fast and manoeuvrable as the Raven, although it is also lightly armoured. This makes it best employed against unfortunate, defenceless ground targets.

The Ferrum Falcon Gunship is armed with Twin Miniguns. These have been calibrated for focused, converging fire. The sheer volume of lead these shell-hoses can send downrange is capable of shredding a main battle tank in seconds.

Alternatively the Ferrum Falcon Gunship can be armed with AP/AA Missiles. These provide versatile anti-tank and anti-air firepower. A great addition to any army going against any foe whether they have land or air units.

The Ferrum Raven is a high speed light transport, able to conduct operations far ahead of the main force. Its primary role is to drop scout units quietly near targets of opportunity, often behind enemy lines. Its small size and high manoeuvrability makes it extremely capable in the tight, urban dropzones which may preclude the use of its lumbering cousins.

The Ferrum Raven’s high combat speed and small size does, however, come at the cost of low protection. Prudent commanders only utilise its talents in the manner for which it was designed, avoiding frontline operations.

The Ferrum Raven Troopship has a capacity of 10 infantrymen. When there are time critical objectives waiting to be taken, there is no better choice of transport.

The Ferrum Raven Dropship can carry a pair of Wolverine scout buggies as it was designed concurrently with the Wolverine to create the perfect rapid reaction partnership.

UCM Behemoths are colossal armoured walkers and one of the most destructive vehicles available to the UCM. Each of the Behemoth’s Railguns are as tall as an apartment block and can obliterate smaller vehicles with ease.

The UCM Behemoth is a true spectacle of a kit. Able to be built as either an America or Japan pattern, this kit comes with 61 total parts. The legs are designed for a great range of poses. Behemoths are the largest Dropzone Commander models you can get and are incredibly impressive models.

The UCM Behemoth comes complete with two different weapon loadouts. With a set of Gatling Cannons for “small arms” fire, the main focus of the UCM Behemoth is it’s devastatingly large weaponry. The America is equipped with a pair of UMH-1 Mass Drivers, similar to the Mass Drivers found on smaller UCM tanks but at a much larger scale. To compliment these gargantuan guns, the America also comes with Missile Batteries capable of spreading high powered devastation over a wide area.

The Japan trades the Mass Drivers for a pair of UMH-9 Stormcrow Cannons. These massive rotary cannons spew projectiles at an alarming rate, capable of taking down buildings and vehicles with ease. Paired with the Stormcrow Cannons are a set of Heavy Munitions Hailfire, powerful anti-Behemoth missiles that also excel at laying waste to scores of lesser vehicles.

Three months into the Battle for Earth, the first Polecat Buggies hit the front. Tougher and better armed, they are as fast as the Wolverine though more costly. An exemplar of efficiency, a single Raven can still carry two Polecats though they are much bulkier than the Wolverine. CLAW kept the weight down through extensive use of advanced composites, making field repairs more troublesome.

Polecat Buggies are a light Standard choice in a UCM army, offering speed at the cost of armour. Tougher than a tiny Wolverine, you still need to be careful when using them. Armed with either an Aggressor Cannon or Twin Nemesis Miniguns, the Polecat can take on a huge variety of foes. The Aggressor is best suited for light vehicles or Garrisons, although can focus its shots to even deal damage to heavy battle tanks. The Nemesis Miniguns on the other hand will tear through infantry in light cover, or even focus their massive 6 shots to deal with light vehicles.

The Vulture offers double the carrying capacity of a Raven along with greater survivability and the option to mount two overwing AA missile pods - a rarity among UCM dropships. Slower than a Raven, it was designed to keep pace with Condors for frontline vanguard operations.

Vultures are the UCM's answer to "what if Raven, but two?" A large light dropship, the Vulture offers twice the transport capacity of its smaller cousin, able to hold up to 4 light vehicles or even 4 units of infantry. With the option to take an AA Battery as well, this is a multi-functional transport that can look after itself.

The beginnings of the UCM were bathed in fire and blood. The alien Scourge attack on Earth and the Cradle Worlds left humanity reeling. What was left fled to the Colony Worlds to lick their wounds for 150 years. Humankind toiled for that time, building a brand new army with emerging technology.

In this militaristic state, the United Colonies of Mankind was born. Gone were the lavish ways of old Earth, replaced by frugality and utilitarianism. Now, almost two centuries later, the UCM have arrived at Earth: the focal point of their Reconquest. With militaristic, utalitarian designs, their armies favour mass production and conservation of resources, keeping vehicles small and practical, though no less deadly.

This box contains a perfect small UCM army. With 6 tank-hunting Sabres, 6 anti-air Rapiers, and 12 bases of Legionnaires all in Bear APCs, you have a solid core for an army. The largest thing you can drop in a UCM army! The Ferrum Drone Base is a support unit beyond measure. It's pretty tough, with a bunch of damage points. Its Point Defence Launchers help it to deal with any aircraft getting too close, but you're really here for the drones. Able to launch 4 Starsprite Drones per round, these little critters fly around causing trouble to whomever they please. AA and Focus means they're able to take on aircraft, or combine their fire to take out heavily armoured vehicles as well.

Time and again combined arms have been a winning formula on the battlefield. The UCM AA team compliments standard legionnaires, upping the defensive capabilities of the infantry, often saving them from bombing runs.

The UCM's combined arms approach is super beneficial in-game. With Flak AA Teams as an Exotic choice, you've got an option for decent (if not ground-breaking) anti-air fire all through your Frontline Battlegroup. Their mobile defensive setup also includes Active Countermeasures, which means they're some of the only Infantry that are protected from long-ranged firepower - even more annoying for your opponent!

The Gladius heavy battle tank is the armoured fist of the UCM, a large, resilient vehicle capable of taking on the toughest of opponents.

A Gladius Heavy Tank is twice the tank of the Sabre. Literally - it's twice as tough and has twice as many guns! Armed with either Twin Avenger Railguns or the huge Quake Accellerated Mortar, you've got some options too. Twin Avenger Railguns are excellent anti-tank weapons (with twice the shots!). Meanwhile the Quake Accelerated Mortar is a solid Indirect fire weapon, able to take out most enemy vehicles, and with Devastator-3 against Scenery to boot.

Heavy Hazard Suits were developed for working in extreme conditions on frontier worlds and on the outside hulls of ships. Such extreme conditions make for excellent battlegear, and the Hazard suits were easily retrofitted for combat.

Is there anything more UCM than a Railgun? These troops carry one each! Although they don't pack as big a punch as their larger cousin the Sabre, the Compact Railguns work best when combined into higher damage thanks to Focus-2. They're able to damage a lot of enemies easily, what's more, the Hazard suits are really survivable with Armour 9, Resilient, and forcing re-rolls on all Collateral Damage. These suits are here to stay!

The Katana is built upon a lighter, nimbler version of the more common Sabre-type chassis. In a further effort to save weight, UCM military engineers have also adopted less power-hungry weapon systems: either a twin high-velocity cannon, or a formidable flamethrower.

The Katana Light Tank is a great alternate Standard choice for UCM commanders. Although lighter armoured than the classic Sabre, its increased movement speed really helps to get stuck-in. With shorter ranged weapons, that's important! A Twin Cannon has the classic UCM accuracy, and 2 shots helps it deal with all manner of light to medium armoured enemy units. Or go for a Flamethrower to deal devastating firepower straight onto infantry in Garrisons - a squad of Katanas with Flamethrowers are a dangerous prospect for any foe!

The Longbow is a one-man crewed, multi-role artillery unit, built around a rotating self-loading ammunition chamber, in much the same manner as a revolver of old Earth. The Crossbow meanwhile takes a more direct approach, armed with a high powered laser, it can be used as a sniping support unit.

It's a 2-for-1 sale on artillery support units! Both the Longbow and Crossbow are excellent choices, filling slightly different roles. The Longbow Howitzer is an excellent light artillery piece, armed with Indirect Armour Piercing Shells, Daisy Cutter Shells, and even Smart Smoke for obscuring friendly units. Meanwhile the Crossbow is a direct fire weapon which has the ever-loved Destroyer rule, and helpfully cannot have its Accuracy modified more than +2 - meaning you'll get to use that Destroyer bonus all the time!

The Colonial Legionnaire Corps commonly makes use of infantry-portable support weapon teams alongside deployments of regular troops.

A cheap support unit for your UCM? Look no further. UCM Mortar Teams do exactly what you'd expect: blow things up that they can't see. Unaffected by Countermeasures, you can safely stow these away behind something and send in some Wolverines for line of sight. Perfect at killing Infantry in the open or even vehicles with their Mortar Rounds, you could also push enemy Infantry back to the centre of a Garrison with their Concussion Rounds - super annoying and useful!
