The Archimandrite was entombed, with honors, inside the subterranean necropolis known as Ierapetra, along with the myriads that had followed him during the Northern Crusades. Andronicus was buried alongside his most cherished prize that was claimed from Mannheim – a Wælcyrge, an instrument of the dead gods of the Nords. Upon being raised, the Firebringer came to realize that, during the burning of Yggdrasil, Hazlia had been afraid. The deity had been terrified of the World Tree’s true nature, and that fear drove him to destroy it – and what true god would show fear? Thus, those entombed within Ierapetra descended into a restless slumber, filled with resentment and lacking any ambitions that would force them to mobilize. Now, however, Andronicus and his followers stir from their unliving dreams as Reginleif and her followers enter his domain, stealing his most valued belonging and finally prodding the veterans of the Northern Crusades into action after eons!

HOW IT PLAYS IN FIRST BLOOD - Andronicus leads his risen legions onto the battlefield with flame and fury; igniting the faith of his allies and burning those who reject Hazlia’s salvation. Those caught within Andronicus’ presence find themselves sapped of their own will to fight on, burnt to ashes in the scorching wake of Andronicus’ burning crusade.

HOW IT PLAYS IN TLAOK - Profane scholar and leader of the Northern Crusades, Andronicus unleashes his cult of priests, empowering them and unleashing a torrent of unholy magic upon any foolish enough to stand against him. Andronicus is available for Casual and Narrative play, while in TLAOK Organized Play he can be used as an Archimandrite.

Kerveros is one of the most dangerous anomalies that have arisen since the Awakening of the Old Dominion. Once a powerful and devout Strategos, his loss in battle was a terrible blow to the nascent Dominion. Lost to the freezing flow of the Granicus river as he organized a ordered retreat from the betrayal of his forces, his body was never recovered or laid in state. As a result, when Hazlia's cry called him forth from the grave, his faculties were far from intact. Little more than a roving menace, he wandered the shores of the Granicus river like an apparition, his decayed body unable to hold the glory of his past achievements. All of this changed with his Awakening:

Loyal troops that had been brought home and interred remembered their devoted commander, who fought to the last to give them a chance to escape. With a patience and loyalty that perhaps only the dead could muster, his devoted followers combed the river, their dead husks immune to the dangers of the raging icy flow. Upon recovering and subduing the mindless form of their commander, they returned to capitas, where his empty tomb lay at the pinnacle of the stepped pyramid honoring his legion. With careful reverence he was laid to rest among his troops, who marched thousands of miles to pay homage to their most beloved commander. This uncommon act of reverence sparked a transfer of power between the empty husk that had once been their commander and his faithful troops. Absorbing a small portion of the power that animated and drove his followers Kerberos was reborn from the stitched together memories and ideals of loyal troops. Thus empowered he was able to subdue and empower the dreadful ceremonial guardian who had been placed within the mausoleum to protect the resting place of one of the few Legions lost before the Fall. Now, at the head of his devoted legion, he has ridden forth to see what to make of this strange new existence.

The Buccephaloi of the Old Dominions were the sacred guardians of it’s holiest sites. Clad in beautiful ceremonial panoplies, these simple and devout guardians were selected from amongst the most powerful of Minotaur Thyreans, their horns ritually cut off in an act of devotion and subservience to Hazlia. Such was the power and majesty of the Buccephaloi that only in death were they called to battle: while alive none dared oppose them. How they Play: Temple Guardians of Old, the Buccephaloi return to play the role of the unstoppable juggernaut, providing some much needed offensive power to the Old Dominion forces. Even from the early stages of the game a combination of Cleave (3) and Brutal Impact (1), more as Dark Power Pool goes up in Tiers, will provide a much needed counter offensive during the stages of the game where Enemy Heavy Regiments are adding up pressure.

In the early days of the Old Dominion the Kataphractoi were the Caelesors chosen Companions, or Hetairoi, armed with the finest arms and armor he could furnish and mounted atop the greatest steeds he could find. As the Old Dominion evolved, these ancient formations were abandoned, but not the title of Hetairos. Granted to the greatest champions of the Old Dominon, this was a title granted only by the Caelesor himself for deeds of valor upon the field of battle. Some of that prowess and glory remain in their withered remnants, and the Hetairoi are the first among equals in a Kataphractoi warband, their mere presence reminding their companions of the glorious charges of ages past. How they Play: Hetairos or colloquially known as “Companions” are veterans that have proven themselves to their superiors and higher command and entrusted to lead the mighty Kataphraktoi into battle. This Officer allows the Regiment to further lean into its shock cavalry role and deliver devastating flank charges where the fighting is thickest!

The Old Dominion is an elite, defensive army that gets more powerful the more casualties it suffers. Combined with sturdy infantry and powerful supporting Cavalry and Brutes, this makes a very unique army whose power increases as the troop count decreases. Old Dominion armies generally play slower, wanting to grind down their enemy while getting stronger themselves until the enemy just cannot handle them any longer and break allowing the ever advancing forces of the Old Dominion push their way through. The Old Dominion armies can also take a Fallen Divinity, which changes how their army plays, as this monstrous centerpiece takes power from your army to enhance itself into a massive apparition of death that sweeps across the battlefield.

Precursors to the lauded Praetorians, the origin of the Athanatoi is shrouded in the myths and legends that churned around the birth of the Dominion and its early forces. Faceless and remorseless, they were the God’s Will made manifest in mortal hands. The ranks of these Athanatoi were capped at one thousand, to be replenished from a pool of the most talented warriors the Dominion had to offer should one of them fall in battle.
