They seemed to come from nowhere, without warning. The Alliance battlefleet of Italian vessels had no time to prepare, barely even enough to power up heat lances. Fighters slashed the sky as Amo Carrier Frigates broke the surface following their submerged approach, small hatches opened on their surface and small drones launched into the sky almost immediately. The Enlightened formations remained uniform as they closed the distance; pre-programmed and soulless. From another direction came the flagship. The Xenophon Battlecruiser ploughed through the waves, still glistening wet from its underwater, surprise attack. Particle beams pierced the hulls of Alliance vessels as men still ran to battlestations. The screams of steel and souls were drowned out by the screech of Enlightened Scythe fighters, strafing the set-upon ships, aiming to exacerbate the damage caused. Finally, as disarray swept across the Alliance fleet, almost as if it were a tangible encompassing cloud, then came the Lovelace cruisers. Striking deep at the heart of the enemy, more green beams of light sliced across filigree armour plates and pierced deep into gaping holes in the superstructure of larger vessels, that were as yet unsunk.

Before long, it was over with the victims of the attack never knowing why. It might have been a territorial dispute or something altogether more esoteric in the minds of the Enlightened officers. By the time the wavelurking ships submerged, there was little left to show what had happened. Flaming patches of oil, an occasional lifeboat that went unnoticed and some potential salvage for whoever passed this way next.

The army corps known by this imposing name forms the core of the StateEmpire Army. It’s a force characterized by employing Heavy Infantry as its true and main protagonist, and the heart of its entire operational approach. The latest of Vlad’s experiments, the Monstrous Stryx is a Strzyga that has forcefully been fed a variety of meat by Vlad; the results of which have been truly horrifying. Far, far larger than anything previously seen from the Strigoi, the Stryx can tear through shop fronts with its bulk, rip a horse to shreds with its claws and bite a man in two with a single bone crunching snap of its jaws.
The Stryx has no eyes to speak of, which gives its face a rather morbid look. It does however use a form of echolocation whilst gliding in the skies to find their prey, sharply descending to attack once it’s honed in on food. This echolocation does give out a screeching sound which terrifies nearby citizens near enough to hear the piercing shriek.Vlad revels in telling his followers that he has found a way to ascend his forces into higher, more powerful entities. If this is true or not, none can say. What is sure however, is this latest experiment has produced the most powerful servant for Vlad yet. 

The Strigoi saw the Morgraur and have answered in kind. The Monstrous Stryx strikes from above and delivers slashing blow after blow, tearing through flesh and steel. If you don't see the Stryx you will certainly hear it as its Baleful Screech ruptures your eardrums.

Like all vampires the Stryx has regenerative capability second to none, so no matter who you send they will not fell this mighty beast.

Valhalla Hobby will be having a Star Wars: Unlimited Prerelease on Saturday, July 6th at 12pm! The prerelease will be 4-5 swiss rounds (4 for 16 or less players, 5 for 17 or more players). Each round will have a 55 minute round timer and will be best of three games. Each player will receive 6 packs to create a sealed deck.
