There is no more terrifying sound in the wasteland than the roar of a Deathclaw. When heard far off, wanderers would do well to head swiftly in the opposite direction. When heard close by, the only options are hide, flee or fight. Chances are it won’t matter what you choose – the outcome will be the same.

These monstrous lizards stalk the wastelands, hunting far and wide for prey. Originally created by government experiment as a weapon in the Great War, Deathclaws were designed to have razor sharp claws and thick hides – a perfect, agile and speedy death machine that lopes relentlessly towards the kill. Only the foolish, insane or heroically brave would stand toe-to-razor-sharp-claw with one and expect to win.

All deathclaws exhibit a devilish cunning on the attack and a shrewd understanding of when to leap and when to stalk their enemy. However some have further intelligence, understanding grunts or gestures in combination with actions, such as saving a brood of eggs safeguarded or attacking a foe to defend a group. But it is the foolhardy wastelander that takes such interaction for granted, or expects it from all examples of the species. A deathclaw gauntlet might be a tempting prize, but there are few who can live long enough to claim it.

Without wanting to give them any props, the Operators are a well organised group, more like a crime syndicate than a raider gang. They follow orders, take on jobs, make their own gear and most of all, remain professional. Well armed and armored, Operators don’t kill for fun (unlike the other gangs of Nuka-World), they kill for profit, or out of annoyance, which is occasionally fun. I guess they also kill for fun.

Dictatorship or unity are a matter of point of view. While many of the actions and edicts of Caesar are tyrannical and brutal, they forge great warriors and hardiness out of the men and women who embrace them, from the Grand Canyon to the Colorado river. The Mojave wasteland stretches from New California Territory to the contested Hoover Dam, containing all sorts of treasures for the bold and dangers for the unwary. For those who come out on tip there is glory or territory to be gained; the unlucky join the desert sands of feed the geckos.

“The XVB02 ‘Vertibird’ is a VTOL ("Vertical Take Off and Landing") craft with an extremely durable armoured fuselage and can be armed with a variety of offensive weapons and defensive countermeasures. This is the most advanced aircraft of its kind ever developed, and the military hopes to press them into service by 2085.” - Museum of Technology Washington. The Brotherhood of Steel make good use of the Vertibird, using it to fly in troops and supplies to advanced positions and to reinforce flashpoints mid battle. Unfortunately, the advanced firepower of the factions that fight to control the wasteland sometimes find a weakness in these aircraft, leading a to a number of scattered wrecks dotting the landscape. Scavengers might find ammo and weapons in the burning wreckage, or even a suit of Power Armour, just make sure its previous owner isn’t still in it before attempting salvage.
