Join us for our celebration of the launch of .asphodel/paradise, on Sunday, August 23rd! Check-in for the event will begin at 12pm on the day of the event. If you have not signed in by 12:15pm, your seat may be given to a walk-in. Attendance is capped at 24 players.

The entry fee for the event will be $35 (tax included), and cover the packs for sealed + 2 participation packs. Each player will be provided with 6 packs of Asphodel Paradise to build a minimum 30 card main deck and can use any material deck cards pulled.

The format of the event will be Standard Constructed: Players will play with their built minimum 30-card Main Deck, maximum 10-card Material Deck, and may freely change their decks with any of the remaining cards in their pool between games. Players will play 3 (for 8 or less players) or 4 (for 9+ players) swiss rounds. Rounds will be best of 3. A 60 minute round timer will begin 5 minutes after round pairings are posted.

At the end of the event each player will receive 2 participation packs of Asphodel Paradise.

It has long been conjectured by the Sorcerer Kings that the Elemental Domains, while anchored around the Prime, exist at varying spiritual ‘depths’. This could go a long way to explaining the existence of the Marid Apsara, powerful Water Asura who despite their title, bear humanity no ill will. In fact many a tale of stranded sailors and wounded rescued from the deep by dolphins is the work of these beautiful spirits. Enigmatic and reclusive, they are, however, not immune to the powers and efforts of the Water Sorcerers in enlisting their aid. When they arrive onto the battlefield they seldom do so alone, suddenly appearing with their entire court to deal a decisive blow, enhanced by their spellcasting ability.

Gyō Tochi began his rise the Nezumi way, by being hurled into battle as expendable fodder. His masters expected him to die; instead, he skulked, hid, and struck only when backs were turned. Cowardice kept him alive, and survival earned him notice. Recognised for his uncanny ability to endure, Gyō Tochi was given command. He led with sharp orders rather than inspiration, always pushing others forward while keeping himself safely behind the swarm. His skills sharpened: stabbing from shadows, avoiding injury, and slipping through chaos untouched. As a Pack Master, he drove lesser rats with ruthless confidence. His inflated ego fuelled ever harsher tactics, yet beneath it lay genuine instinct. Gyō Tochi had survived more battles than most Nezumi live to see, guided by old, half‑forgotten ways of the warrens above and below. He believes he is intended for more. To prove it, he must one day face his destiny, a test he both fears and craves. For now, Gyō Tochi endures. And for a Nezumi, endurance is power.

Numachi, the Swamp’s Unmaking

The first rumours came from hunters. “Whatever it is, it came out of the swamps, and we’ve never seen anything like it,” they whispered.  Others spoke of a creature that ripped a man in two, its shape shifting with every heartbeat. Those who survived swore its form reflected the fears of anyone who looked upon it. When it reached the outskirts of the settlement, even the guard‑dogs fell silent.  “It overpowered them,” one villager muttered, trembling. “Worse still… it now looks like them. In part.” From that night on, the people felt it constantly, a presence, unseen but watching. Doors were barred, charms were hung, and prayers were whispered to indifferent heavens. They thought they killed it once. They were wrong.  The moment they lowered their guard, Numachi returned, and the price was paid in screams. Some who glimpsed it lost their minds outright. There was no logic to its form only shifting, writhing impossibility. In time, the few surviving villagers could only agreed on one thing “Proof the Heavens must be empty.” Numachi continued to stalk the marshes, mutating without reason, guided by instincts older than language. Its presence twisted the air, a walking mind‑maw that devoured sanity, and the silent tread of a perfect stalker.

Yukan'na, the Prince Who Chooses His Path

Yūkan'na’s rise began with failure. Wounded in his first true battle, the young prince realised that birthright alone would never make him great. As he healed, three oaths were laid before him, each a different road to power. If he swore the Oath of the Shield, he would master defence, surviving every battle until he became a revered duelist and founded a Koryu of his own. If he chose the Oath of the Blade, he would rebuild himself through discipline, becoming a precise and deadly swordsman whose skill could decide any clash of steel. If he embraced the Oath of the Veil, he would turn from the sword entirely, delving into forgotten lore to become a subtle, formidable Shugenja blessed by his troops and feared by his enemies. Whichever oath he chose, Yūkan'na proved himself many times over. His name spread across the Jwar Isles sometimes as a master of defence, sometimes as a blademaster, sometimes as a commander wielding power that brushed the realm of the Kami. But all versions of his legend begin the same way: a humbled prince, standing at a crossroads, choosing the destiny that would define him.
