The Telos Tomb Cybermen were once like us. Hailing from Mondas, Earth’s twin planet, their scientists discovered ways to prolong and upgrade their race by replacing vital organs with metal and plastic. Each had the strength of eight men, but all humanoid emotions had been removed. They are more robot than man, intent on conquering the galaxy and upgrading as many humans as possible to become like them.

The Cybermen who settled on the planet Telos were frozen in suspended animation in giant, elaborate tombs, awaiting their resurrection. An archaeological expedition from Earth led by Professor Parry awoke the dormant army, but they did not realise the horrors that awaited them…

German officers were capable and often experienced leaders. Junior officers were trained to undertake the role own immediate superiors, enabling them to use their intuition to take control of situations when necessary.

An officer unit consists of the man himself and can include up to 2 other men acting as his immediate attendants. Because of the high quality of the majority of German officers, the Bolt Action rules rate them as regular or veteran.

Guadalcanal. Tarawa. Iwo Jima. Okinawa. Just some of the legendary actions the US Marine Corps fought in - actions that have rightfully sent the USMC into legend.

There are few fighting forces that can rival the fearsome reputation of the United States Marine Corps. Indeed they can trace their ancestry back to the Revolutionary War in the 18th Century, serving all over the globe up to the present day.

During the Second World War the US Marines spearheaded the American response to Japanese aggression, leading to a ferocious island-hopping campaign. The technologically superior US forces made many amphibious assaults that wore down the Japanese and culminated in crushing American victories albeit with terrible loss of life on both sides.

US Marines in the Pacific Theatre of Operations were eager to get the job done be it with the bayonet, shotgun or their Thompson submachine guns. Their loyalty to their comrades and the Corps stood them in good stead as they faced a fanatical foe where no quarter was given no received.

One of the most iconic pieces of hardware in US Military history, over 40,000 M3 half-tracks were produced during World War II with many thousands of similar models also being supplied to their allies.

The M3A1 was ideally suited to rushing troops to the front and through gaps in the enemy lines. With a top speed of 45 mph, and armoured enough to keep out most small arms fire, they performed admirably in this role.

They had a crew of three men and could carry ten fully equipped troops. There were many variations on the chassis including tank destroyers, mortar carriers and ambulances, but most frequent by far were the M3A1 with its armament of a heavy .50 cal heavy machine gun and two or more .30 cal machine guns.

The Sherman Tank was the main stay of the American army. The Break out from the Normandy beaches and the bocage could never been achieved without the armoured support. Although they had their weaknesses and were nicknamed ‘Ronsons’ by the Germans as they lit up every time; their impressive firepower and large production numbers enabled the Allies to overpower the Germans.

Following the ill-fated Market Garden, US paratroopers would drop into Germany in 1945 as part of Operations Varsity and Plunder - the crossing of the mighty River Rhine itself.

These battle-hardened fighting men have been immortalised in film and television - A Bridge Too Far and Band of Brothers are both great sources of inspiration for these troops and the actions they fought in so heroically.

Despite a spirited defence from the opening hours of the Normandy invasion in June 1944, Hitler's forces in northern France were comprehensively defeated and forced to retreat westward. Although their position was strengthened considerably following Operation Dragoon - the landing in southern France in August 1944 - the Allies were faced with considerable logistical problems as they advanced towards Germany, spreading their lines of communications and support thinner with every mile.

Operation Market Garden, the massive airborne assault of September 1944, failed to meet its objectives and the momentum of the Allied advance was further threatened.

German forces were able to capitalize on this and with mounting pressure from the east as Soviet forces prepared for a winter offensive, Hitler decided to launch one last gamble - a massive counteroffensive against the Allies in December 1944. The German assault (including 45-divisions) launched against American defenders dug in across the Ardennes region led to the largest single battle fought by the US Army in the entire twentieth century. The stakes could not have been higher for either side - for Germany, it truly was a last attempt to avoid being completely overwhelmed by the Western Allies, whilst for the American forces bearing the brunt of the assault, there was a very real threat that a German breakthrough could have undone all of the successes since D-Day.

Code named Operation Watch on the Rhine by German forces, the initial successes of the campaign led to a worrying and distinctive bulge in the Allied front line, leading to the Allied press giving the offensive an immortal moniker: The Battle of the Bulge.
