One of the most iconic pieces of hardware in US Military history, over 40,000 M3 half-tracks were produced during World War II with many thousands of similar models also being supplied to their allies.

The M3A1 was ideally suited to rushing troops to the front and through gaps in the enemy lines. With a top speed of 45 mph, and armoured enough to keep out most small arms fire, they performed admirably in this role.

They had a crew of three men and could carry ten fully equipped troops. There were many variations on the chassis including tank destroyers, mortar carriers and ambulances, but most frequent by far were the M3A1 with its armament of a heavy .50 cal heavy machine gun and two or more .30 cal machine guns.

The Sherman Tank was the main stay of the American army. The Break out from the Normandy beaches and the bocage could never been achieved without the armoured support. Although they had their weaknesses and were nicknamed ‘Ronsons’ by the Germans as they lit up every time; their impressive firepower and large production numbers enabled the Allies to overpower the Germans.

Having blooded themselves during the fighting in Sicily in 1943 and then fought in arguably their most famous operations during the D-Day landings in June 1944, the US Airborne divisions were withdrawn from the front lines to rest and refit.

Re-equipped with the new green M-1943 uniform which was being used across the US military to standardise supply, the divisions which included the 101st ‘Screaming Eagles’ and the 82nd ‘All American’ would be used by Allied High command during Operation Market Garden - an ambitious plan to open a corridor through Holland by parachuting in several US, British and Polish airborne divisions to take key bridges.

Following the ill-fated Market Garden, US paratroopers would drop into Germany in 1945 as part of Operations Varsity and Plunder - the crossing of the mighty River Rhine itself.

These battle-hardened fighting men have been immortalised in film and television - A Bridge Too Far and Band of Brothers are both great sources of inspiration for these troops and the actions they fought in so heroically.

Commandos are the frontline troops of most Orc armies and are as versatile as they are fearless. Most will have been trained by veterans of the Mandrake rebellion against the GCPS. Hulks are genetically distinct from (though closely related to) the more common Orcs of Gora. The largest Hulks approach three meters in height and are deployed carrying the largest portable weapons in a warband's armoury. Mobile artillery platforms have played an important role in supporting Marauder units almost since the beginning of Gora's history with the GCPS. Despite a spirited defence from the opening hours of the Normandy invasion in June 1944, Hitler's forces in northern France were comprehensively defeated and forced to retreat westward. Although their position was strengthened considerably following Operation Dragoon - the landing in southern France in August 1944 - the Allies were faced with considerable logistical problems as they advanced towards Germany, spreading their lines of communications and support thinner with every mile.

Operation Market Garden, the massive airborne assault of September 1944, failed to meet its objectives and the momentum of the Allied advance was further threatened.

German forces were able to capitalize on this and with mounting pressure from the east as Soviet forces prepared for a winter offensive, Hitler decided to launch one last gamble - a massive counteroffensive against the Allies in December 1944. The German assault (including 45-divisions) launched against American defenders dug in across the Ardennes region led to the largest single battle fought by the US Army in the entire twentieth century. The stakes could not have been higher for either side - for Germany, it truly was a last attempt to avoid being completely overwhelmed by the Western Allies, whilst for the American forces bearing the brunt of the assault, there was a very real threat that a German breakthrough could have undone all of the successes since D-Day.

Code named Operation Watch on the Rhine by German forces, the initial successes of the campaign led to a worrying and distinctive bulge in the Allied front line, leading to the Allied press giving the offensive an immortal moniker: The Battle of the Bulge.
