The ever-restless armies of Hell stir once more in the benighted lands beyond New Antioch known as the Carcass Front. Everywhere signs show the return of Leviathan is nigh. Following the chaos of the Rent, piracy surged across the Mediterranean. The charismatic Mira O’Shea emerged as a notorious pirate leader,  commanding a small fleet that devastated Adriatic trade between the Ottomans and Venice.

Ambitious for plunder, Mira ambushed an Ottoman convoy, unaware it was guarded by heavily armed ships of the line. Outgunned, her fleet was completely destroyed and her crew slaughtered. Narrowly escaping execution, Mira drifted at sea until a fishing vessel rescued her and brought her to Venice. There, her natural charm quickly won over the local dock and fishing guilds, ultimately securing her initiation into the Guild of Thieves.

Radu Basarab, once a revered Wallachian general and mentor to Vlad, reluctantly embraced vampirism after witnessing its brutal effectiveness in battle. Though he retained his aged appearance, he gained renewed strength and vitality. Accused falsely of plotting against Vlad, Radu was imprisoned in a silver-lined coffin sealed with holy chains and buried alive for centuries. When the Rent in the Sky shattered the seal, Radu emerged, consumed by vengeance and determined to overthrow Vlad, whom he saw as a weak and complacent ruler. Drawn to Venice by the scent of his former master and the Strigoi, Radu vowed to reclaim power and become the new lord of the undead.
