Unaware of the relic sword’s true identity as the lost dragonblade of clan Dheubrodsûn – for the Baron has kept the artifact’s non-human origin a secret – Erich Schur was caught by surprise when reports started trickling in of increased Dweghom activity from the hold of Ghe’Domn. Not knowing the true reason behind such commotion and being extremely wary of the destructive potential of a Dweghom army, Schur wrote to the Chamberlain – who immediately liberated funds and empowered Erich to raise as powerful a force as he could. Schur must now face the imminent emergence of the Stone Face King alone, as the Theist Church and its pawns seek to see their foes exhaust one another so that they might destroy the Dweghom army as it seeks the walls of Pravia, furthering their political ambitions.

Kerveros is one of the most dangerous anomalies that have arisen since the Awakening of the Old Dominion. Once a powerful and devout Strategos, his loss in battle was a terrible blow to the nascent Dominion. Lost to the freezing flow of the Granicus river as he organized a ordered retreat from the betrayal of his forces, his body was never recovered or laid in state. As a result, when Hazlia's cry called him forth from the grave, his faculties were far from intact. Little more than a roving menace, he wandered the shores of the Granicus river like an apparition, his decayed body unable to hold the glory of his past achievements. All of this changed with his Awakening:

Loyal troops that had been brought home and interred remembered their devoted commander, who fought to the last to give them a chance to escape. With a patience and loyalty that perhaps only the dead could muster, his devoted followers combed the river, their dead husks immune to the dangers of the raging icy flow. Upon recovering and subduing the mindless form of their commander, they returned to capitas, where his empty tomb lay at the pinnacle of the stepped pyramid honoring his legion. With careful reverence he was laid to rest among his troops, who marched thousands of miles to pay homage to their most beloved commander. This uncommon act of reverence sparked a transfer of power between the empty husk that had once been their commander and his faithful troops. Absorbing a small portion of the power that animated and drove his followers Kerberos was reborn from the stitched together memories and ideals of loyal troops. Thus empowered he was able to subdue and empower the dreadful ceremonial guardian who had been placed within the mausoleum to protect the resting place of one of the few Legions lost before the Fall. Now, at the head of his devoted legion, he has ridden forth to see what to make of this strange new existence.

Despite the events at Vatsdam, we can now confirm that the Alchemist prevailed against his doubters within Nepenthe - at least for now - and is once more considered a significant influence. He was pivotal in the negotiations that opened the doors to Boronest’s Court and a new era for the Merchant Princes. This, unfortunately, was largely due to the steel secured by the ceasefire agreement with Brandengrad’s throne. Boronest reports also indicate that a significant network of human informants and agents - often coerced through addiction to the Alchemist’s concoctions - has been formed, while the Alchemist maintains contact with many of King Fredrik’s enemies, within Riismark and without.

HOW IT PLAYS IN FIRST BLOOD - A warped reflection of how merchant princes typically leverage the battlefield, the Alchemist prefers his enemies indebted to him. His influence grows as the enemy flourishes, as after all, pride goes before a fall. Able to procure a hasty enemy, the Alchemist can turn a moment’s impetus into their ultimate demise.
