• That’s right; Nekima and her Nephilim crew are receiving the Nightmare treatment this time around. But unlike our previous Nightmare boxes, this one won’t just be exclusive to Malifaux. More on that in a bit. First, let’s take a look at Adi Adara, the alt version of Nekima, and the incredible new design for their Malifaux stat cards.

At her side (and replacing the Blood Hunter) is The Lagan, a group of terrifying and bloodthirsty eels guarding their latest catch. Under the sea, the Terror Tots have been replaced with adolescent and fully aquatic Trenchlings. Once they’ve grown up a bit, those little horrors become Reefdwellers, and are now responsible for protecting Adi Adara’s underwater kingdom.

These unassembled miniatures won’t just be climbing atop the Malifaux shores, though. On Earth, Adi Adara and her oceanic infantry will also be joining the battle in The Other Side. Inside this Nightmare Edition box, you’ll also receive unit cards to replace characters in the Gibbering Hordes.

In The Other Side, Adi Adara counts as a Stormsiren, the Lagan and Trenchlings each count as Egg Clutches, and the Reefdwellers count as Morphlings. The characters are on the same base sizes for both The Other Side and Malifaux, so you’ll be able to include them in both games faster than the tide rolls in.

Malifaux models are 32mm 'heroic' scale miniature made of high-quality plastic. Will require some preparation and assembly. Faction: Neverborn. Keyword: Nephilim. Contents:

    • Adi Adara (Counts as Nekima)
    • The Lagan (Counts as Blood Hunters)
    • Trenchlings x2 (Count as Terror Tots)
    • Reefdwellers x2 (Count as Young Nephilim)

  • Speckled Crawlers, like most Crawlers, occupy the lowest level of the Hordes' food pyramid. They are the most plentiful species, partially because of their incredible ability ability to adapt to their environment. Upon arriving on Earth, the Crawlers took to the land, carving out small lairs for themselves in tunnels, under bridges, and in just about every other dark and unseen place they encountered.

On the tabletop, Speckled Crawlers form into large, five-monster Fireteams. This makes them quite a tarpit and their resilience is further boosted when they enter Glory and begin gaining automatic Reinforcement Tokens. Their basic melee attack is somewhat weak, but it becomes stronger if the Crawlers can find some terrain to hunker down in.

  • At the bottom of the Gibbering Hordes food chain lie the Crawlers. The second most common species (if they can be called a distinct species, given their penchant for mutation) are the Barbed Crawlers. In Malifaux's oceans, these creatures swam in the shallows, launching toxic barbs from their bodies to kill their prey. Now they roam the lands and seas of Earth, looking for food and new lairs to lay their eggs.

On the table, Barbed Crawlers are one of the Gibbering Hordes’ only ranged units. Barbed Crawlers serve as a cheap source of ranged attacks and, when needed, cannon fodder. Their barbs aren't very dangerous, but the automatic application of Pinned Tokens can assist in whittling down enemy forces. When in Glory, their barbs gain a number of very useful Triggers that allow them to fill multiple battlefield roles.

The Gibbering Hordes are denizens of old Malifaux, before the fall of the Tyrants. In the resulting war, they chose the wrong side and were cast into the ocean. Over the centuries, their forms twisted to accommodate their new lives, and as the years passed they began to forget... but numerous portals opening in the ocean dumped the Hordes onto Earth, shocking the creatures into a hunger-filled frenzy.

The Gibbering Hordes are amphibious creatures that dwell in many of Malifaux's waterways and oceans. Much of their intelligence has been forgotten in favour of sharp animal instinct and a desire to survive. Led by their more aware kin, the Hordes have decided to make the Earth their new home. A Gibbering Hordes army is focused on melee, using their seemingly infinite numbers to conquer their enemies.

  • The various Skulker species of the Gibbering Hordes embody stealth. Their skin pigmentation constantly changes to match their surroundings, making them very difficult to see until it is too late. They try to stick to dark places, slinking from shadow to shadow as they creep up on their unsuspecting prey. Worse yet, their incredibly sharp teeth contain potent venom, making them effective against even larger prey.

On the tabletop, Striped Skulkers are forward scouts and assassins that are more self-reliant than other Hordes forces. Unlike other units, it can sometimes be a good idea to let Striped Skulkers perish when attacked, as they can use the Endless Numbers Ability of the Gibbering Hordes Allegiance to come back almost anywhere in play.

  • Frenzies are deadly creatures that travel in powerful hunting packs. The three strongest Frenzies in a group are in charge of the others. Though this arrangement is simple, there are regular challenges to authority, and in larger pods, the three Frenzies in charge of the group can change quite rapidly. They do not speak but instead project their thoughts outward, bullying the other members of the Gibbering Hordes into submission through sheer force of will.

On the tabletop, the Frenzy benefits immensely from being both a Commander and a Squad. Most importantly, this allows the Frenzy to Reinforce to replace lost members, which gives them a greater capacity than most to survive incoming attacks and recover from a particularly brutal fight.

  • Karkinoi primarily dwell in the shallow caves along the coasts of Malifaux, though a few breeds still linger in the deeper parts of the ocean. Karkinoi are pack hunters that prefer to overwhelm creatures much larger than themselves and feed as a group. They reproduce rapidly, often laying nearly-hatched eggs into whatever parts of their prey they choose not to consume. In Malifaux, those eggs serve as food for many other creatures, but on Earth, those predators are absent, and the Karkinoi population is increasing at an unchecked rate.

On the tabletop, Karkinoi are fast, relatively durable, and hard-hitting. When coupled with their ability to summon Egg Clutches, this create is a well rounded melee unit that forms the backbone of the strongest hunting pods.

  • The Other Side uses a standard deck of cards, known as a Fate Deck, in order to resolve conflict. It’s as simple as flipping a card, adding your stat, and comparing it to a target number.

  • The Guild's iron-fisted grip on the Soulstone trade has worn Earth nations raw, creating a powder keg of alliances and enemies. Just when a world war seemed ready to erupt, horrendous creatures from a plane known as Malifaux tore their way through reality. The true battle of survival has begun.

The Other Side is a game about allegiances doing battle across the Earth in a fight for supremacy and survival. Using 32mm miniatures, players will control squads of troops, powerful commanders and massive Titans as they attempt to defeat their foes and seize control of the Earth. Conflict is resolved through the use of a deck of cards, allowing players more control over their own destinies. The Other Side shares a world with Malifaux, but the games are not compatible.

  • The Stormsiren is one of the Gibbering Hordes' Commanders. She brings the average of 25 Scrip to the game, which she can use to hire the units she needs to defeat her foes.

She is one of the only Commanders with a Tactics value of 3. This gives her a few more options than other Commanders. She also creates an additional Tide Pool piece at the start of the game, giving Companies that contain her even more battlefield control.

Her Grasping Tentacles attack has a good Strength, but if she manages to get you in water that's where it really shines. This is made easier for her with the use of Siren's Call, which lets her move an enemy Fireteam. Since Commanders get a free Morale Action, she can use Siren's Call and still make an attack that turn.

When the Stormsiren flips to Glory, she really begins to shine... she turns all Tide Pools into Hazardous Terrain and has the ability to create more as an Action, giving her massive control over enemy movements. What's more, her Siren's call becomes even more potent, allowing her to move entire enemy units and move them further than before.

There's also less danger of leaving the Yarazi over-exposed, as they are able to move a full 10" after one of their Fireteams are killed. This lets them run in, and if they start suffering loses, run out.
