When the Watcher Hegemony arrives at a world they watch and assess the native sentient species to ascertain their compatibility with the wider galaxy. The same was true when they arrived at Earth. During their examination of a city and its human subjects, they discovered the huge untapped potential in the mental abilities of the species with only a small fraction of their brains used to control their bodies and store memories. Though they were forced to destroy the city, known as Atlantea, due to contamination by the Order, one of the human subjects was kept for further study. In their subsequent studies, they discovered humans have the potential within them for huge psionic manipulation. Though these skills lay dormant for almost all of the population, a few genetic lines are able to unlock the potential of their capabilities and harness energies to form objects through telekinesis or even change their physical shape.

Returning to Earth many centuries later, the Watchers brought with them the first example of a new Clade for the Hegemony - the Amber. The product of genetic resequencing the Amber Alpha, Jocasta as she prefers to be known in her dealings with other humans, is the epitome of human psychic development and a welcome addition to the Hegemony. Now more than ever the import of the Watcher mandate to save humanity from the Hex, the Order and their own destructive tendencies is clear. To fail would be to deny the galaxy their undoubted contribution in the centuries to come.

Jocasta is able to harness psychic energy, something that was never intended to be used in anger but the current situation has become desperate for the Watchers and desperate times calls for desperate measures. Only intended to be an example for deployment in test environments, the Amber alpha has been brought out of cryo-sleep and deployed with the remaining Watcher forces on the Earth. With so few of the other Clade Alphas surviving, her leadership and psionic talents are crucial.

Such a valuable and irreplaceable asset must be protected. Jocasta is often protected by Sentinels, bodyguard from the Vermilion Clade. Armed with deadly blades and rifles, these fierce warriors selflessly protect their charge, even at great risk to their own mortality.

In her efforts to mediate with the humans and undertake sensitive missions for the Watchers, the Amber Alpha often employs myriad of Grey Elites. As these talented Grey have been enhanced with Onyx and Viridian gene sequences to enhance their capabilities, they are able to employ a wide array of weaponry and equipment that are beyond the ability of their unmodified Clade genome.

It is a long and taxing process for a Spirit Walker to physically transform their body. For those who have a capricious creature such as a hawk or snake for a companion spirit, the process is even more difficult. With their gift of flight, Alcon and his daughters are excellent scouts and a boon to the Warrior Nation.

Shortly after his first Spirit Walk, Alcon would soar above the Union outposts that were scattered through the tribal lands. In his youthful exuberance, he became brash and began to taunt the troops by flying ever closer to them. That particular stunt was his undoing as Bernard Hopkins, a keen-eyed rifleman, clipped his wings and sent him plummeting earthwards into the heart of a Union camp. Alcon was captured and imprisoned, kept in chains so that even after his wound had healed he was unable to take flight. He was beaten, interrogated and treated as a little more than a bird-freak by the Union troops. Eventually, he simply longed for death, not even the possibility of returning to his wife, son and three young daughters was enough to keep hope alive in his heart. His rescue by his friend Cloud Runner after weeks of searching for him, forged a life debt he can never repay.

Though his son walked a different path and fate would rob him of his wife, Alcon raised his daughters in the ways of the Peyasa Spirit Walkers. Now the four of them act as scouts and aerial sentries, often as the vanguard for Cloud Runner.

Ahota is the eldest of the three and is blessed with bountiful energy and an unrelenting drive, giving her the title - The Tireless. She is often the first in the air and the last on the ground. Next is Manama, who is quick to judge those who have wronged the Warrior Nation. She forgives mistakes slowly and forgets them even slower and is known as The Oath Keeper. The youngest daughter is Tiponi and her youth belies the white-hot vengeance in her soul, the anger at the death of her mother and misery heaped on the Warrior Nation. She is The Vengeful.

The squabbles and skirmishes in the west can often spill out into all types of terrain. Few are as dangerous as the many bayous found along the gulf coast of Texas and into Louisiana. These often hot and oppressive swamp-lands are no place to take a gunshot wound and the shallow water can often suddenly deepen causing the death of many an unwary traveller. The water is often dark and brackish making it unsafe to drink and hides many creatures that lurk beneath the surface. Many frontier settlers have attempted to build shacks and jetties only for them to have fallen into disuse and disrepair.

In times of great need, the Warrior Nation perform a binding ritual to merge the power of a spirit animal with its flesh and blood likeness in the world. This is done with reverence and not a small amount of reluctance as, while such binding is a formidable blessing, it carries a terrible price. Unlike the Spirit Walkers, a mortal animal bound in such a manner will often perish once the spirit leaves it.

The spiritual energy channelled through these creatures is incredible and, while the Shaman who employ the rituals are using the ways of the Great Spirit, many feel that doing so is against the rhythms of the earth. But, against the technological abominations of the Dystopian Age, what more powerful an ally can the Warrior Nation have than these massive and ferocious energy beasts?

One such spirit energy beast, the Fire Eagle, is a majestic bird that soars over the land on its enormous wings. Though these Fire Eagles have powerful beaks and claws, their greatest weapon is the gouts of purifying flames they breathe on their foes, capable of melting even the strongest steel.

While the sheer size and ferocity of the Fire Eagle is enough to cause fear in its enemies, the Greater Thunderbird is truly terrifying. Its powerful beak summons an image from prehistory in its savagery, while its wings crackle with galvanic might. The Greater Thunderbird is the harbinger of storms and the living sky. Lethal forks of lightning cascade from its mouth and wings, striking down the foes of the Warrior Nation with deadly accuracy. Few live to tell the tale after witnessing either of these great beasts in action.

The bloody Civil War that raged throughout the Union in the early part of the 1860s, typically referred to as the Ore War, was so devastating that entire towns were simply wiped off the face of the earth. This was largely the result of the war being fuelled by Covenant of the Enlightened scientists lead by Burson Carpathian. Under the guise of an egalitarian doctrine, Carpathian felt it was his responsibility to supply both sides of the conflict with more and more devastating weaponry, in exchange for power and influence. Beyond Carpathian and his egalitarians in the Americas, the majority of the Covenant of the Enlightened maintained a policy of custodianship, preferring to keep hold of the technologies they developed for themselves. They did not interfere in global conflicts. However, in the face of this unimaginable bloodshed, one young and brilliantly gifted Enlightened scientist named Nikolai Tesla was so horrified by what he saw as a war without end that he took an act that changed the world. Ignoring the other Enlightened and his own government in the Prussian Imperium, Tesla made his way to New York and there he offered his expertise to the Union in order to bring an end to the war with the Confederacy. President Lincoln, desperate for anything to break the stalemate of destruction, recognised that this could well be the turning point of the conflict and accepted the young scientist's offer.

As was his demand, Tesla was given control and near total autonomy over a massive manufacturing centre in Washington known as the Pipeworks. From there, Tesla immediately began to produce weaponry that he hoped the Confederates would have little means of countering. While the fighting naturally intensified, it was not long before the tide turned in the Union's favour and the devastating electric weaponry devised by Tesla had the Southern States on the backfoot. A final push from General Grant saw an end to the Ore War and an iron grip of peace was enforced across the fractured Union.

To maintain this new and expanding power on the world stage, Nikolai continues to labour in the Pipeworks, creating labour automata for urban renewal projects, arc reactors to bring power to the nation and a well-armed military to safeguard the lives of all the citizens of the Union. Tesla's most advanced combat automata, electric weapons and specialised armour are all employed on the front lines of this fight and Tesla can often be found field testing such marvels, often in his own specially designed battle strider.

The Vermillion clade serve the Watcher Hegemony as escorts and bodyguards. They are often sent on missions that include high ranking leaders or diplomats and are instinctively vigilant for threats to their charges. The Vermillion are particularly suited to this role as their armoured carapace and extensive weapons training allows each Vermillion to selflessly protect their charges even at great risk to their own mortality.

Armed with deadly bladed gauntlets and Fusion Carbines, these fierce warriors are intended to stop any threat dead in its tracks with disciplined and deadly force. To them, nothing else matters other than the safety of those they are sent to protect even using their own bodies to shield them from harm.

The race that eventually became the Magenta was an apex predator on their homeworld. The Magenta naturally evolved the means to stalk, chase and run down prey much larger than themselves and a strong pack mentality increased their effectiveness ten-fold. Once the Magenta reached space flight they were welcomed into the Watcher Hegemony, their natural weapons, speed, strength and agility making them ideal at spearheading assaults.

The Magenta Alpha is a prime example of the species and is further augmented to increase their physical prowess beyond natural limits. When a mission calls for overwhelming physical force, the Magenta will be employed to overrun enemy positions before they even know they are under attack. She will then disengage and disappear before striking from a different direction or going to ground until the time is right.

The Magenta Alpha is heavily invested in the Watcher's mission to seek out the Hex and Order influence on humanity and eradicate any trace of it. Based on targets identified by Cerulean infiltrators, the Magenta Alpha leads fast and lethal strikes. In close combat she has few equals, her Bladed Gauntlets slice effortlessly through her enemies and her speed ensures that she is already moving onto her next target, whilst the previous die in startled ignorance.

Creation VII was the result of a visit by Countess Augusta Byron to the Antarctican coast. An evening of parlour games at Leonidas Spire involving Absinthe and Phrenology turned into a wager with her host, Fairuza Moreaux, to create something that would prove twice the ability of any one of Moreaux's creations. Taking her host's challenge literally, Creation VII was the result of an ingenious fusion of two of the most brutish and towering specimens Moreaux had available. None could dispute that the result was impressive, even compared to other such marvels of galvanic application. After being lauded by the Enlightened of Leonidas Spire, the Countess made the request that her new creation would accompany her home and enter into her service there. Despite Lord Sturgeon's insistence that no new technology created on the continent could be removed from it without his permission, Moreaux readily agreed. After all, the vivisectionist was confident she could replicate what she had seen of the Countess' work.

Creation VII has a number of innovations over previous monstrosities. Reinforced spinal braces have given Creation VII a supremely erect posture that allows for four weapon arms to be brought to bear against targets, something that is impossible with similarly massive creatures with their stooped gaits, such as Creation V.

Thanks to the combined mental power of a series of slaved logic engines directly interfaced with the necrotised cerebral tissue of the two original donors, Creation VII is capable of independent, if not erratic, action.

This not only allows Creation VII to use all of its extra limbs simultaneously, but it also has the ability to carry out more complex orders than its contemporaries and to act apart from its designated controller. There is a drawback to this design, the two anonymous head donors do not always agree on the same course of action, causing Creation VII to sometimes grind to a halt in the middle of its assigned task. This inactive stance can be extremely inconvenient if it happens in the heat of battle. Unless the heads can resolve their conflict quickly or their handler directly intervenes, Creation VII can remain frozen mid-action for extended periods whilst battle rages around it.

Boosted muscle mass and additional pneumatic bracing means that the weapons Creation VII carries into battle are suitably large and brutal. For attacking at long range it is equipped with a Razorspine Rotor, a heavy rotary cannon that fires specially designed shells that splinter apart after leaving the barrel, creating an expanding line of razor-thin spines propelled forward at speed. For medium range, Creation VII is fitted with an incendiary spray cannon that fires a sticky liquid that erupts into flame when it makes contact with air. The mixture adheres to whatever it lands upon and even burns underwater.

It is up close, however, that Creation VII is most dangerous. Its upper right arm ends in an Industrial drill while its left is fitted with an industrial grade double buzzsaw. So versatile is this combination of weapons and tools that Countess has often had cause and compensation to lend this tireless behemoth to her fellow Lords and Ladies. Indeed many of the deeper tunnels beneath the Warcradle are thanks to Creation VII.
