Like all of the warriors of the tribes, Maniitok is brave and honest. A keen farmer, pious and simple. The people of the hills are a simple uncompromising breed, as hard as the mountain and unyielding in the defence of their kin. A life in the hills is hard though and daily struggle against the land has carved Maniitok into the warrior that protects his people so fiercely, strong as a mountain ox, cutting down his enemies with wide arcing swings of his axe.

The man, the myth, the Mountain! Not called this because of his stature but for his steadfastness and determination in battle. Yama refused to fall despite receiving the most grievous of wounds, wounds that would have toppled the most formidable of samurai. Younger warriors seek him out on the battlefield to shore up their resolve.

With the banner held high, he can call any Frightened Minimoto back to action; this is very useful as their Steadfast trait means they often end up in combat while having the state. So, with no penalties, the line will hold.

The legendary Master of the Temple’s slow and thoughtful nature with his students is the exact opposite when on the battlefield. The diminutive Tanuki is a cyclone of energy, flying between enemies in a flurry of blows, dashing from melee to melee. Nigh impossible to target at range the enemy must close in an attempt to deal with this furry thorn. The Temple do not exclude any who hold the needs of the many and protection of the realm above personal gain as their ideals, Master Akari & Kuma are perfect examples of this mentality.

None have managed to attain such a deep and wide understanding of the world as the venerable Master Enos. His body now old but his mind and powers have never been stronger. His knowledge of the elements enable him to exploit the very Kami themselves, drawing on their energy to transform himself into a conduit of nature’s strength. The other Masters however question how much this unique ability damages the balance and relationship the Temple holds with them. It is certainly obvious that Enos’s mastery of the Void has enabled him to unlock knowledge of the element thought lost and forgotten. Some powers though are better left lost.

If Master Koju is in danger all of creation will bend to ensure her safety, and even the most depraved Kami representing the worst aspects of creation will not harm her. This often manifests as wild animals appearing alongside her to attack those who threaten her and her enemies seem to slow down in her presence allowing her allies the opportunity to take out threats before they have a chance to harm her.

A venerable and revered shisai, old as the mountains themselves. Though sight has left him he sees all, knows all; for the birds are his eyes, ears and wings now. He knows the name of wind, of fire, of earth, wood and steel, he knows the nothingness of the void. Such is the respect he is afforded by the Kami he is able to bless his allies or force those of the darkness away, prevented from nearing him. Sensitive as any temple master he is able to bend or steer the flow of ki.

The Father of the Mountains is holding the spiritual hearts of his people and will offer the lives of his people for the greater good.

Nuan is on the first rung of the ladder to becoming a Minimoto Blacksmith. His family take great honour from Nuan’s position and he is fully committed to progressing through the ranks. The first step is to master one’s fear for the molten metals they so revere. The impure metals and slag are literally hurled at opponents or cleverly manipulated to create cover for the advancing Minimoto by launching clouds of smoke and sparks into the air.

An amazing hunter and tracker, Nuniq knows the mountains she calls home better than any other. Enemies to the tribes must tread carefully if they don’t want to lose men to the hidden traps and snares, obvious to the tribes people but undetectable to outsiders. Her eyes miss nothing, whether spotting prey, animal or human.

The defence of the oldest temples and most sacred shrines is often entrusted to the great Oki Shisa. Mountains of ever watchful stone, still and silent for decades but always ready. None know how many Oki Shisa there are but these holy wardens are the bane of those who would attempt to manipulate their Ki against the Temple or hold sway over the land. The enchantments that gift the Shisa protection also imbue the stone with a keenness akin to a Masamune blade.

Traditionally Suzume relies on unparalleled speed to gain a position of advantage. However, when faced with a formidable foe, they can sometimes struggle. Oshibe is a Bushi that helps her fellow sparrows face down fearsome enemies. Her combat training has also enabled her to match the best the mortals offer, as long as she fights with a friend.

Fear is a problem for the fast Suzume Tengu; mostly, they have a Ki stat of 1. Gaining Steadfast means your Tengu will be reliable enough to drain those activations from enemies as needed. Oshibe also enjoys the sparrow's legendary manoeuvrability with her Dart Ki Feat, which is more than enough to keep enemies confounded, even though it is limited to once per game. Oshibe is an ideal addition to the Descension Starter Box and fits into the Blue Gale Scouting Party theme as a more combat focussed model.
