The Jung are quick to tease Musa, calling him as valuable as a barnacle on a ship’s hull, and in part, they may be right. He lacks the dexterity to climb the rigging, fails time after time to tie the simplest knots, and suffers violently from seasickness. However, when an enemy hoves into view, the teasing stops, and the boasting begins as Musa is a fury like no other. Surefooted and aggressive, he more than makes up for his shortfall as a sailor by pounding his enemies into the planks of boats, wharves, and dockside taverns everywhere

“Say nothing, hear everything” is a motto often ascribed to the Satou clan, otherwise known as the Hare clan. Throughout the Empire and the isles, the hare is often seen as a ‘trickster’ creature, full of mischief and surprise, and the Satou are no different from the animal they chose as a visual representation.

The Satou clan are staunch allies of the Takashi clan and have been since they set foot in Jwar. While they are similar in martial prowess to the Takashi, there is one area of warfare where they succeed better than most, and that is in creating unusual weapons and tactics. Satou Togai is merely another warrior chosen to test their latest creation in the fiery crucible of battle. Clad in a heavy, flame-resistant suit or armour, Satou Togai wields an unorthodox weapon that is an unholy combination of steel and chain that gives it a range most opponents will underestimate much to their peril.

Perhaps this is a small scale version of something grander to come?

Satzuko specialises in the ancient art of massage and ki-manipulation, which is rare for a female among the Flower Houses. Traditionally, this role is given to the men who use their strength to knead the stress and tensions from a client’s body, but Satzuko is equally skilled and more than capable of soothing blocked chakras

allowing the Ki to flow correctly.

Her training will enable her to meditate for additional Ki to keep your models free from Markers and give them extra activations. However, she has low Melee and will need to be protected to do what she does best.

A drum! A drum! Death doth come! Before the fall of the Shiho clan at the hands of the duplicitous Takashi family, Yoshitaka was a drummer in the ranks of the Shiho who would lead his men proudly into war. He, and others, would play what the men came to call, The March of the Eagle, which was perfect for stretching out the legs and devouring the miles as they moved from skirmish to skirmish. Alas, Yoshitaka is all that is left of these battle field musicians whose drums filled their enemies hearts with fear and dread when they heard them in the wind.

With Yoshitaka in your ranks, you’ll be able to gain more ground by running your troops straight at your enemies, who will no doubt be cowering in fear as they hear his drumbeats of death

Mako was a renowned swordsman and respected general before many of the current generation of the Takashis were even born, he was one of the eight great Blademasters of the Empire and was appointed a General of the Imperial Armies, leading the Golden Sentinels before his age caused him to retire. Often referred to as “Uncle Mako” it may not be clear exactly who’s uncle he is as even Hida refers to him as his Uncle.

The ronin of the Shiho remain a thorn in the Takashis' side. Without a fixed army the Takashi have found it almost impossible to hunt down and destroy the remaining rebels in the field, these cowed dogs hide in the woods and hills of the Dragon's lands. The solution has been somewhat answered in the excellent tracking and scouting skills of Atsushi, a former Satou family retainer now sworn to the Takashi. With his faithful hound Shinobu, rooting out those hiding in the dark, eager to savage any at the utterance of a single word from his master.

Once washed up, Daisuke now washes away the pain of battle from his allies. He has become a specialist, channelling his Ki to heal and support the forces of the Prefecture. He is never far from the fray and can often be seen ensuring members of the Takashi family return home.

The Hare Clan are Masters of the Art of War. For them, it has become a life-long scholarly pursuit. They seek to turn oft-overlooked components into assets on the battlefield. Take, for instance, the humble dog not so humble in the hands of the Hare Clan. They have long been trained to fulfil a variety of battlefield roles. Some are messengers that go from tent to tent or position to position delivering vital messages or pieces of pertinent information. Some dogs are used to guard the camps at night, equipped to sniff out the enemy or any would-be infiltrators or assassins. Dog-handlers are Ashigaru and may operate with several dogs in a pack depending on the task at hand. Edogowa and his dogs are used to scout ahead, getting the lay of the land then sending the information back to their lines.

A Prefecture warband can benefit significantly from having Edogawa and his dogs on their side. Aki is a messenger dog running notes back and forth. With a Samurai in the fold, they gain the powerful Order trait, allowing up to three Ashigaru to gain an additional activation. Emi, on the other hand, is a highly trained guard dog, so if anyone tries to Surprise a friendly model, it will first have to Test against Emi or have their advantage negated.

Undoubtedly mean spirited and devoid of any form of warmth, Fai-Ginn has found himself as the primary carer for over half of the Silvermoon's street urchins. For all of the hatred and enmity felt towards him from his young charges he has avoided a dagger in the back, during the darkest hours of the the night, for so long because he does have some value to those he leaches from. His knowledge of what he calls the ‘subtle arts’ are second to none.

The Buto are a fearsome and brutal people when stirred to actions. Fituamua is no different and serves as the silent enforcer for the Syndicate. A once renowned Jumo fighter he has since worked his way into the service of the Iron Fist gumis. It makes no matter to him if the debt is a single half bronze moon to a thousand Gold ones. If his Oyabun gives him a name he will collect and those who hear the slow knock of his heavy tonfa on their door had better clear the debt or Fitiuamua will gladly give them a lesson in repayment.

When the tide of the battle is changing and the will of the Prefecture’s soldiers is waning, Fujitaka is there waving his banner and rallying the troops. His bravery in the face of impossible odds is well known and his fellow Ashigaru find their own inner strength in his presence. Fujitaka also shares his own strength to enable others to continue the good fight.

Giichi uses a unique fighting style and flail-like weapon. Forged in the fighting pits of Jima he has learned what it takes to survive. He is a bane to Samurai that fight in well-rehearsed routines, he does not follow the rules they have come to expect and his attacks are difficult to anticipate. Giichi understood early on that he would never compete with the Buto in the ring, he did however learn what he could and has impressive Jumo skills.

From Ugo to Eddo, the loyal servants of the Takashi can be called upon to bolster the ranks of the Dragon’s armies. Their knowledge of the terrain invaluable in giving the Prefecture an added advantage in battle.

Whether with yari or the fabled Arquebus the ashigaru stationed at Ryu are staunchly loyal to the Takashi and will defend their clan to the death. They are trained and drilled relentlessly to ensure that in battle they act and react instinctively, unflinching as they wait for orders from their Gunso or samurai commanders. The Arquebusiers see it as such an honor to be picked into the regiment that it is said that they even take them on their final journey to Hantaisoku. The fear their weapons create is rightly deserved as there is little that can stand up to raw power, steel, wood and fire fused into this fearsome device.

A seasoned and cunning tactician in all affairs. His razor sharp mind and unflinching resolve make Harukichi an exceptional businessman and leader. Those in his gumi display an unshakable faith in his decisions and follow his orders without question or pause. Those who follow the Five Fortunes believe that you make your own luck and this is particularly true in Harukichi’s case. It appears to his enemies that should Harukichi will it his followers are able to achieve the most unlikely feats, whilst their own trip, stumble and flail wildly.

Hiryu is an Ashigaru hailing from the city of Eddo, distinguished from his fellow Ashigaru in Ryu by the heavier armour he wears. He also skilfully wields the Naginata favoured in the North, rather than the Yari; which is standard issue in Ryu. A life long soldier, Hiryu is a firm believer in rank and file fighting. He understands the ebb and flow of the line and is at his best in battle when fighting shoulder to shoulder with his fellow Ashigaru.
