One of the most infamous cases was the Pie Murderer. Not a murderer who leaves pies at the scene, no. This case involved a string of pies being gouged, huge bites taken of innocent pies left helplessly on windowsills to cool. The culprit was never found. But the CBSD made sure to sample a lot of pies - strangely that's actually their main investigative tactic in most incidents.

THE RUBY CLASS BATTLECRUISER

The Ruby class battlecruiser is a highly potent vessel designed for maximum firepower in a fast, sleek package. It is an excellent interdiction vessel, superlative in the arts of flanking sweeps and the annihilation of enemy supply convoys behind the lines. It features battleship-level firepower in a fast package which can keep up with cruisers, making it a popular command ship for missions that require speed above toughness. However, it lacks a battleship's ability to take punishment, requiring dexterity, restraint and opportunistic aggression in equal measure from its captain. The Ruby is armed with a pair of disruptor banks and a pair of lethal particle lances – weapons which can slice through any armour ranged against them.

THE SAPPHIRE CLASS BATTLECRUISER

The Sapphire class is a more specialised and unusual vessel, conceived for disruption and close range engagements. In combat, it relies on a pair of ion storm generator banks to inflict crippling damage at close range with the option of use in the orbital bombardment role. Its second main armament is a pair of gravity coils. These forward facing constructs create a highly localised and damaging beam of gravitic disturbance, ripping chunks from hulls, crushing bulkheads under their own weight and even changing the heading of a multi-thousand ton warship, disrupting the battle plan of any foe.

Popularised by the legendary Jessie Adam, the 209 "Big Bertha" Breaching Drill has become a more common sight on battlefields. Able to safely transport an entire battalion, the 209 erupts anywhere on a battlefield, disgorging its inhabitants directly into the fight.

Although entirely unarmed, that's not what you're taking a Breaching Drill. Able to transport 18 wheels worth of units (that's 18 Technicals if you want!) and put them anywhere on the board, that's why you're taking a Breaching Drill. Add to that the ability to whisk Objectives straight back down into the tunnel and you have a unit that can single-handedly change the course of a battle.

Wagons are usually armed with conventional rapid fire cannons mounted for the anti-air role which offer reasonable rate of fire, acceptable range and excellent reliability. However, they can also be armed with a fearsome Flamethrower, allowing the crazed drivers to torch enemy infantry while laughing maniacally.

AA Gun Wagons are a Standard choice with an AA weapon. Need more than that? You can put them in Hovercraft and big 209 Breaching Drills? They're great, you're not even reading this anymore. Flame Wagons are also great! An unusual Exotic choice, they're brilliant for supporting your Frontline Battlegroups by torching the inhabitants of a Garrison before your own Infantry jump in and mop up the stragglers.

Aegis-V orbital defence lasers are surface based variants of the UCMF's standard point defence armament. These batteries are deployed to fortify captured ground and are highly effective at destroying enemy bulk landers (not to mention buildings and other large ground units) before they can deploy.

The Aegis Orbital Defence Laser is a true beast of a scenery kit! It makes a fantastic Garrison for your games, and you can even shoot that giant laser if you want. The Apollo is a high speed attack walker, generally fielded in flanking, interdiction or expeditionary operations where heavier walkers would be unsuitable. The Erebos carries an EM Field Relay, a device which severely disrupts optical and electronic targeting equipment of all nearby enemy units. A single, well placed Erebos can severely reduce the effectiveness of fire of an entire enemy armoured group.

Although not quite as tough as their Type-2 cousins the Ares, Menchit, and Phobos (among others!), the Apollo and Erebos have much more varied roles to play. The Apollo Strike Walker's thrusters make it capable of crossing vast distances quickly, all the better to reposition for the best targets for its Railgun or Anti-Materiel Gun. Meanwhile the Erebos EM Walker has a more defensive role, trading speed for an EM Field Relay, which can cripple an opponent by giving +1 Accuracy on friendly units in a massive 6" bubble.
