Nothing epitomizes the Spires’ approach to warfare more than the Catabolic Node. Every drone contains the latent genetic code to become a Catabolic Node. With its twisted body is seething with toxic gasses and corrosive vital fluids a Catabolic Node is so unstable they are only created on the eve of battle.
